The Journey Home Book - By Radhanath Swami
![]() |
At the age of only nineteen, Radhanath Swami left his home in America seeking adventure and spiritual knowledge. After trekking across Europe for months, Radhanath Swami reached his long hoped for destination: India. After living there for many years as a sadhu or wandering monk, Radhanath Swami returned to America in order to share the sacred knowledge and wisdom he had learned from the many holy men and women he had met there. It was an extraordinary choice, given what Radhanath Swami had survived to get there: a journey filled with bizarre characters, mystical experiences, and dangerous adventures. The story is recounted in his recently published memoir The Journey Home - Autobiography of an American Swami. Reviewers have called Radhanath Swami's saga "at once an engaging yarn, a love story, and the evocation of a transcendent paradise in all its savagery, solitude, and splendor.
Radhanath Swami emerged from his years of travel wanting to explain for others the beauty and rewards of a life devoted to God, and therein lay a dilemma. Radhanath Swami's many followers and friends describe him as completely selfless and consequently unwilling to take credit for his work and restless when a spotlight is focused on him. By choosing A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami (1896-1977), a Bengali Vaishnava Saint, as his guru (after declining offers of initiation from several tyagis or renunciants in the Himalayas), Radhanath Swami cast his fate to the wind, cut his matted locks, and entered back into the society.

Thus with two intentions Lord appeared with his devotees and tasted the nectar of Prema, with the congregational chanting of the Holy name.. Thus he spread he kirtan, even among the untouchables. He wrote a leaf of the Holy name and Prema. With which he garlanded the entire material world.
(1.21) he bhakta kori……
In this way, assuming a sentiment of a devotee, he preached devotional service, while practicing it himself.
Purport by his Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
We Rupa Goswami met Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu at Prayag, he offered his respectful obeisance by submitting to Lord Caitanya was more magnanimous than any other incarnation of Krsna. Because He was distributing love of God, love of Krsna. His mission was to enhance love of Godhead, in the human form of life the highest achievement is to attain the platform of love of Godhead. Lord Caitanya did not invent a system of religion as people sometimes assume. Religious systems are meant to show the existence of God, who then was generally approached as the cosmic order supplier, but Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s transcendental mission is to distribute love of Godhead to everyone, anyone who accepts God as the Supreme, can take to the process of chanting Hare Krsna and become a lover of God.

Therefore, Lord Caitanya, is the most magnanimous This munificent broadcasting of devotional service is only possible for Krsna Himself. Therefore Lord Caitanya, is Krsna. In Bhagavad-Gita, Krsna has taught the philosophy of surrender to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. One who has surrendered to the Supreme can make further progress, by learning to love Him. Therefore the Krsna Consciousness Movement, propagated by Lord Caitanya, is especially meant for those, who are cognizant of the presence of the Supreme Godhead, the ultimate controller of everything. His mission is to teach people, how to devotail themselves into engagements of transcendental loving service. He is Krsna, teaching his own service from the position of a devotee. The Lord’s aquantance of the role of devotee in the eternal form of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, is another of the Lord’s wonderful features. A conditioned soul cannot reach the Absolute Personality of Godhead by his imperfect endeavor, and therefore, it is wonderful. Wonderful that Lord Sri Krsna, in the form of Lord Gouranga has made it easy for everyone to approach him.
Swaroop Damodar has described Lord Caitanya as Krsna Himself, with the attitude of Radharani or a combination of Radha and Krsna. The intention of Lord Caitanya, is to taste Krsna’s sweetness in transcendental Love, he does not care to think of Himself as Krsna because he wants the position of Radharani. We should remember this. A class of devotees called (5.23) Nadiya Nagaris or Gaur Nagaris pretend that they the sentiments of Gopis towards Lord Caitanya, but they do not realize that He has placed Himself not as the enjoyer Krsna, but the enjoyed, the devotee of Krsna. The concoctions of unauthorized persons, pretending to be bonafide, have not been accepted by Lord Caitanya. Presentations of such as those Gaur Nagaris, are only disturbance to the sincere execution of missions of Lord Caitanya.
Lord Caitanya is undoubtedly Krsna Himself, and he is always non different from Srimati Radharani, but the emotion technically called Vipralambha Bhava, which the Lord adopted for confidential reasons, should not be disturbed in the name of service. A mundaner should not unnecessarily intrude into the affairs of transcendence and thereby displease the Lord. One must be always be on guard against the sort of devotional anomaly. A devotee is not meant to create disturbances to Krsna, as Srila Rupa Goswami has explained devotional service is (6.55) Annakolayana, or favaourable to Krsna. Acting unfavorably against Krsna is not devotion. Kamsa was the enemy of Krsna, he always thought of Krsna, but he thought of Him as an enemy. One should always avoid, so called service. Lord Caitanya has accepted the role of Radharani and we should support that position as Swaroop Damodar did in the Gambhira, the room where Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu stayed in Puri. He always reminded Lord Caitanya of Radha’s feelings of separation as they are described in Srimad Bhagavatam. And Lord Sri Caitanya appreciated his assistance. But the Gaur Nagaris, who placed Lord Caitanya in the position of enjoyer and themselves as enjoyed are not approved by Lord Caitanya or by Lord Caitanya’s followers. Instead of being blessed, foolish imitators are left completely apart. Their concoctions are against the principles of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. The doctrine of transcendental enjoyment by Krsna, cannot be mixed up by the doctrine of transcendental feeling of separation from Krsna, in the role of Radharani.
(9.02 - ) Vande Guru……. (very long prayers)
We are today celebrating, the appearance of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Krsna appears in the role of his own devotee to distribute the nectarine mellows of the most confidential type of love of Godhead. We first of all offer our lowly head at the lotus feet of our Saviour, our master and beloved spiritual preceptor His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and to all our beloved merciful, extraordinary effulgent acharyas of the Gaudiya Vaisnava Sampradaya. We offer our hearts in submission to the assembled Vaisnavas, to the Panch Tattva, to Sri Krsna Caitanya Prabhu Nityananda, Sri Gadadhar and Srinivas and to the Land of Vrindavan, the eternal abode of the pastimes of Sri Sri Radha Gopinath and their loving associates.
Today’s verse describes, the beautiful poetry, the mission of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He appeared with his devotees and tasted the nectar of Prema with the congregational chanting of the Holy Names and thus he spread kirtans even among the untouchables. He woved the garland of the Holy Name and Prema, with which he garlanded the entire material world. It is tradition, that we offer a garland to a respectable personality. It is an act of humbling oneself, before a guest or an exalted soul, when we offer them a garland. Everyday, we have some many devoted ladies in the corner of our temple room, spending hours, utilizing their abilities, intelligence and devotion to weave beautiful garlands, with the best possible flowers. Bhakti means to offer the best we have to Krsna. In some places, there are no flowers, the may weave together leaves and Krsna will accept, because that’s the best they have. So our ladies are taking best possible flowers they can and with all of their intelligence and all their artistic abilities they are weaving flowers together and it is brought to the pujaris, who with great sincerity place it around the neck of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, it is a very very exalted service. It is the eternal service of the Braj Gopis, in Goloka Vrindavan, it is a fact.
Srinivas Thakur, during the Hari Panchami festival in in Puri, wanted to excite Swaroop Damodhar Goswami and Lord Caitanya to extol the Glories of Vrindavan. So he was minimizing them in very joking spirit, he said “in Vrindavan what do you have?, some leaves, some grass, some flowers, some peacock feathers and plant called Kunja, but in Vaikuntha, wonderful ornaments, wonderful opulence, beautiful palaces and the Gopis, what do they do, they love cows, they curn butter, they make Garlands but my Laxmi is sitting of jeweled thrones, worshiped by all. Compared to Vaikuntha, what is Vrindavan?”. Lord Caitanya laughed, said “Narada muni’s influence has overcome you , due to the association of the opulences of the Lord. But Swaroop Damodar is a Pure Devotee of Vrindavan, he is so simple except unconditional devotional service. Why don’t you speak something” and Swaroop Damodar Goswami began to extol Glories of Vrindavan Dham. How every grain of dust is chintamani, more precious than all the wealth of the universes material world and every grain of dust in Vrindavan is more precious than all the wealth of Vaikuntha planets, and every tree is a desire tree, a Kalpa Vriksha, which can fulfill the desire of anyone who wishes, but the residents of Vrindavan, they are so satisfied that they do not want anything. They are happy with just the fruits of the trees and in the pastures of Vrindavan, there are surabhi cows, kamadhenu, who can supply unlimited quantity of fresh nectarien milk. In fact, the ground, the pasture of Vrindavan is muddy with the milk of the cows. These Kamadhenus, they could fulfill everyone’s innermost desires. But the Brijwasis are so satisfied just serving Krsna, just pleasing Krsna, they do not desire anything, they are just satisfied eating a fruit or drinking a little milk. Think about that, extraordinary.
If you had tree that could fulfill any desire you wanted, what would you wish under that tree and you could wish much as you want, anytime you want for the rest of your life, its just not one chance. You could just say “I want a car, I want a house, I want a wife, I want a nice children, I want good grades, so many things you could ask, I want liberation, you could ask all day long for the rest of eternity and immediately full-filed, that’s desire tree. And the Kamadhenu cow same, you approach her and anything you desire in presence of these cows, they supply. Thus Swaroop Damodar Goswami is glorifying the residents of Vrindavan, because they don’t want anything, they are living in chintamani Dham, but they are satisfied with few fruits and few flowers and little milk, they are satisfied offering these things to Krsna. They don’t want anything for themselves. That is the perfection of life. When you water the root of the tree, every part of the tree is satisfied, because the residents of Vrindavan are rendering the most intimate loving service to Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna is so completely satisfied by their service, therefore he reciprocates and gives them the most concentrated, intoxicated ecstacy. Such intensified concentrated happinness he gives them because, they are giving them the most happiness. And their bodies are made out of ecstasy of the reciprocation of Krsna has given them, therefore it is explained, that anyone of the Gopis in Vrindavan is millions of times more beautiful than the Goddess of fortune in Vaikuntha. What to speak of the celestial apsaras in the heavenly planets. Millions and millions of times more beautiful and they are millions of times beautiful but even then the most beautiful star of bollywood, compared to the apsaras, they are like horses. By compared to the Goddess of fortune, the beauty of the heavenly damsels eclipses that compared to anyone of the Gopis, just churning the butter and making the garlands even the Goddess of fortune beauty is eclipsed, why are the Gopis so beautiful? Because their bodies are constituted of the Prema. The have totally sold their entire bodies to the service of Krsna, to giving enjoyment to Krsna. Their body is simply, personification of the love, they don’t have material bodies, Krsna tells Gopis “although I am the proprietor of everything that exists in all spiritual and material world with all that I have, I cannot repay you for your love, even in the entire lifetime of Brahma.”
So because they are giving the most extraordinary complete pleasure to Krsna, by their simple love, Krsna reciprocates and fills their lives with their life with Love and their bodies is simply the manifestation of the ecstasy of their love for Krsna. That is Vrindavan. And what is the eternal occupation of the Gopis? Singing about Krsna, talking about Krsna, remembering Krsna as they are making garlands and milking the cows and performing such simple chores, as simple cowherd girls. So when we offer garland to the Supreme Personality of Godhead it is an act of our position, it is an act of reverential and devotional and surrender.
Actually in the path of Bhakti, Krsna accepts the conscious purpose in which we offer something. You can offer a garland as a formality or you can offer a garland as an act of submissive surrender, that’s actually the spirit. Prabhupada explains that “there are statues here in Bombay of big politicians, who have died, Yes. And once a year on their birthday, the municipal cleaner comes with a big broom and washes off the pigeon stool off the statue and its not easy because they allow to collect all year long and they give him a abhisek on his birthday. With the municipal brush, that broom, that cleans the streets, yes. And after cleaning all the dropping and making it nice, they may put up pandal and then exalted politicians and common people come and they put a garland on him. As an act of respect, as an act of honoring his memory. So this is a wonderful, wonderful culture. In India, you sometimes get use to it, but an foreign person comes to India and you put a garland on him, they are shocked, its never happened to them in their entire lives. You are treating them like a demigods, they feel like they don’t deserve it.
I remember my father and mother, first time they came to India, they were in their late sixties, yes, and they got off the plane and a devotee put garlands and they were “vow, for me?”. They were be-sided themselves, they have never been honored this way in their lives “this garland is for me, really?”. About thirty devotees put garland on them! And they really didn’t know what to do. It’s a culture shock. So yes, offering a garland is an act of respect, we are humbling ourselves to offer this type of reverence to another.
While Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, who is the Supreme controller, Lord of the Universe, who has descended from the spiritual world, He personally makes a garland, what are the flowers he uses? Harinam and Krsna Prema, the most fragrant of all flowers. He strings an entire garland of Harinam and Krsna Prem and then as an act of honor, practically as an act of worship, he garlands, he puts it around the entire material world, what does that mean? Than means He is honoring with love, every living entity in the material world by garlanding them. That is the humility of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, even the untouchables, can you imagine the greatest of the brahmans, going to the (29.55)gettos and finding yavanas, malecchas, criminals and untouchables and putting costly garlands on them? Have you ever seen this? Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is doing this, he is going to the candalas, the untouchables and he is garlanding them all with the most precious wreath that he has personally made with Harinaam and Krsna Prem and intoxicating the world with true happiness, that is the mission of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
Lord Caitanya is Krsna Himself, Krsnadas Kaviraj Goswami explains that “He appeared for three internal reasons and three external reasons”. The three external reasons should be understood very carefully. In fact Krsnadas Kaviraj Goswami dedicates several entire chapters of knowledge, logic, philosophy and leela just to explain the external and internal reasons of Lord Caitanya’s coming. The Lord came, first of all to fulfill his promise, that he has given the world in the Bhagavad Gita.
(31.35)
Yada Yada dharmasya……
When ever, wherever there is a decrease in religions and uprise in irreligion, I descend. Krsna has come in the age of Kali, the most abdominal forsaken time in history, he comes out of causeless mercy. We explained last night, there is only one reason, there is only one cause for Lord to descend in this world. His infinite kindness, to the fallen sinfull material existence and also Sri Advaita Prabhu he was crying out the names of Krsna all day. The condition of Navadwip and the condition of the entire world was so much under the subjugation of kali. While reading Bhagavatam, when reading personified himself as a king. But he had a cruel, wicked, crooked heart, his business was to cause pain and suffering to the innocent. His business was to devastate everything sacred within the world. Destroy truthfulness, destroy cleanliness, destroy austerity, destroy compassion from the hearts of all human society. And without these fundamental principles of religion, then what do you have to human society? You have a speci that is lower than the animals, that has the intelligence and the power to create so much pollution damage and misery. That is kali’s objective, to take the humane being that is specifically created by the Supreme Lord for the purpose of self realization, for the purpose of living a saintly lives, of purity and take those human beings and make them cruel, wicked and envious. Greed, so dissatisfied with life that they want more and more and more and however much they get, its never enough. The more you get, the more you are in anxiety to keep it, to maintain it, to preserve it. Sometime the more you get, the more you try to enjoy it because you worked so hard for it and you are not enjoying it, that’s anxiety and there is always someone trying to take it all away, the more valuable anything is, more is the people who wants to rob you, yes. And if somebody have more, you become envious and the more you have, the more you need. Greed is like fire, the more fuel you put in the more it burns and burns and burns. People have lust, people have greed, people are envious, people are infatuated with false ego, which is another anxiety. False pride is such an suffering condition.
You think you are gr. eat and you are enjoying that situation. But it creates a very, very insecurity. Pschogically, Phschatrically its usually the people who are mentally the most insecure that they have to keep talking about themselves, about the great things they have done, yes. If actually you are self satisfied, you don’t have to say anything about yourself, let the fact speak, yes. In fact, the people who are most stable, the goswamis, they are saying “they are the most fallen”. Krsnaraj Kaviraj, he is man of really stable consciousness, absolute stable and he is saying “he is lower than the worm in stool”. So what is all this false ego? Trying to make oneself look good in front of others, for the sake of enjoying prestige, some fame, some recognition. For a devotee, when he sees somebody like that, he just sees an empty frustrated heart, that’s trying to grab on these illusions, to these will of vests (37.33), to these horse eggs, goodha timba (37.37). What is called? …….(37.35) haribol. Simply, horse eggs, all these material promises of maya. What is a horse egg? It is something that does not exist, except in your imagination, yes. But when maya captures you, your imagination becomes a reality, you dedicate your life, you struggle, you foam at the mouth like an ass, to try to get these horse eggs. And not only that, but you some how or the other, out of your intense love and devotion for your children, you try to gather as many horse eggs for them and convince them the value of these, yes. The don’t exist except imagination, its an illusion, for the eternal soul trying to enjoy these physical and mental pleasures, through these set of clothes called body, these two layers of gross and subtle, coverings? So this is kali, by taking away truthfulness, austerity, cleanliness and compassion. Make us like animals, motivated by greed and lust and pride and envy and when it is not fulfilled, anger and our whole life becomes illusion and humans society become disgraceful. If we actually look at the world, from a holistic view, what is human society today? The type of delusion, the type of values, intoxication, illicit sex, gambling, meat eating. At the time of Maharaja Parikshit, these things didn’t exist. But kali has come and now they are not only normal, they are fashionable, in some places, if you do not do these things, if you not greedy and envy and angry and not breaking regulative principles, there is something wrong with you, you show as a misfit. Something like a leaper, someone like leprosy, something is deformed, that’s the way people will see. So that is the power of kali and kali is the king of the world at this time and human society are all his obedient subjects. But the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is so merciful, he has descended as advaitacharya. Advaitacharya and the devotees of Navadwip seeing the condition of the human society in kali yuga, they were burning in their hearts, burning with compassion, they were literally crying, this is extraordinary. If you just understand this one point, you will surrender to Krsna and weekend class (41.55) and everything else. If you just understand this one point.
The compassion of a Vaisnava. These devotees were absolutely free from any tinge of material ego, they were self realized souls of highest order. They were perfectly liberated and in ecstatic love of God. In their hearts were erupting esctatic love of Krsna, at every moment, this is Advaitaharya, Srinivas Thakur, Haridas Thakur these are great personalities but yet to see us, they are weeping, lamenting, because this is the nature of a great soul, they are more concerned with others than they are about themselves, yes, the are experiencing ecstasy, but what about us? The more you become ecstatic, the more you lament when you see people don’t have it. Material consciousness is “we want what other people have” because we are envy, yes. Or if we have something, we always want something more than other people have, yes.maybe your own son or daughter, anybody else, we want to be always above them, yes. Yes you should have everything in abundance, slightly less than me, that’s satisfying to the hear, but the devotee, a devotee has everything, absolutely everything, And feeling so much happiness, because Krsna, its Krsna. When they see someone without Krsna, the more you have Krsna, the more you have Krsna, the more you feel you have pain when you see someone who doesn’t, if you don’t have Krsna, if you have only theoretical conception of Krsna, then you feel some theoretical compassion for someone who doesn’t have Krsna, yes. Some of us are preaching in that spirit, but actually when you are tasting the ecstasy and nectar of the beauty of Krsna, then people have to have this, you don’t know you are missing. That is compassion.
Therfore, through this kind of logic we understand, the more you love Krsna, the more you will spontaneously be compassionate to others, because you can’t bare, you cannot tolerate anyone not tasting the nectar you are. And you see them like flies, just swarming, to the stooly substances, the material enjoyment, lust, anger, greed, profit, adoration, distinction, sensual pleasures, for one who is tasting Krsna, he is seeing this whole society going to the cinemas, watching television, eating all kinds of food, having all kinds of romantic relationships, working hard and living beautiful houses, cars and clothes and ornaments and children. What does it look like to a self realized soul? He sees a swarm of flies just eating very fermented stooly objects. I am sorry, but it’s a fast day, it may help, it may help you bear the time.
So devotees sees, what would you do if you saw very beautiful honey bees swarming around a very fermented abominable stooly substances? Its not for you, its for the flies 1yes. That’s the way a saintly person sees, we are part and parcel of Krsna. We are all eternal servants of Krsna, the nectar of love of God is within us, we are not meant for sense gratification, we are meant for ecstasy, we are meant for love, we are meant to be Krsna’s leela. So the self realized souls “this is who you are, this is your nature, why, why are you acting like an abdominal fly?” That is compassion.
So this was the mood of Vaisnavas, headed by Sri Advaitacharya. Advaitacharya took vow, he was fasting everyday for us. People today fast because they want to loose weight or they fast because they have a deasease and this is a natural way of cleansing the body, yes. Why people fast because, they want some merit, some material benediction or spiritual advancement, so people fast because they want to gain something through that austerity but Advaitacharya, he was not over weight, he was over all deasease. He is already the proprietor of everything that exists, he is the Maha Visnu Sadashive, he does not need anything to fast for, he is already perfectly realized, he was fasting for us. Fasting for Krsna to appear, to deliver the fallen souls. Advaitacharya, he read in the gautamiya tantra (48.44) “that if one offers Tulsi Manjaris and Ganges water with love and devotion, Lord Narayan will satisfy that devotee’s desire. So on the bank of Ganga, he was offering Tulsi Manjaris one after another after another along with Ganga Jal and with a loud voice, full of emotion and devotion he was begging and pleading for Krsna to descent into this world to give Krsna Prema to everyone. Advaitacharya was not praying to any of the other avataars, He was not praying even to Vaikuntha manifestations of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he was specifically praying to Krsna in Goloka Why? Because the other avataars can destroy our ignorance, they can award liberation and essentially they can grant to us awakening the love of God, pure love of God, in a spirit of all endevours (50.20). But the sweet mood of the four higher rasas, of servitude, friendship, parental love and conjugal love. To grant the most perfect state of sweetness of these types of love only Krsna personally awards. No other avatar. Therfore, Advaitacharya was specifically calling Krsna in Goloka Vrindavan, to descend in the darkness of the age of Kali to give light and he was crying so loud that it appears to all coverings of material existence and Krsna in Goloka, Srimati Radharani in Goloka heard his appeal, they could feel the tears of compassion falling from His eyes, they could experience the soft melting of His heart.
Meanwhile, Srinivas and His three brothers, Srirama, Sripati, Srinidhi. Then Narada Muni, Parvat Muni descended to this world, they were also for the sake of following souls they were chanting the Holy Names loudly, practically whole day and whole night with the exclusive objective of attracting Krsna to descend. To deliver the most fallen and the most fallen hated them for doing it. That is unconditional love, yes. You are trying to save someone and the people who you are trying to save are blaspheming you, critising you, chastising you and threatening you and hating you for it. Now how many of you continue on?yes. Seeing the condition of these rogues and rascals, so puffed up by their mundane scholarship, by their higher birth, sometimes by their wealth. Screaming out the Holy Names day and night, Krsna saved them. Because they did it at night, these people did not like it, they considered it noise pollution and they were blaspheming horribly.
Srinivas and his brother, they keep up themselves all night, why? Because they are mad, they are crazy, they are fools, they are ignorant, because they don’t know what is religion, don’g know what is the purpose of life, they are utter failure, they are disgrace, they are parasites.Para means Supreme site. So Sarasvati was speaking to them in that sense, they were parasites for them means its like insects go in and eat your body away, yes. Parasite. So they said “look at them, they are not dressed properly, they are not eating properly and they are screaming all the time and telling us what we should do” they are screaming so loud and its caturmasya, means Vishnu is sleeping, if they wake him up, he is going to become so angry, he going to destroy the Universe because of them, this is their mentality. For others, they were saying “king is a mallecha, the king hates Hinduism, it out law to perform publicly, the kind is going to hear about this loud chanting and he is going to so violently angry and he is going to send his soldiers to Navadwip and plunder and imprison all of us because of Srinivas, this mad nonsense Brahman.” Somebody else said “ I think we should we should get rid of this rascal, once and for all, lets tie him up, bind him up and just him to the king to put him in prison and as for his house we should dismantle it and throw all the parts into the Ganges to be gone forever” and Srinivas and his brothers are hearing these things. They are all self satisfied, they don’t need anything from God, their kirtan is only for them but they were so selfless and so unconditional, for most of us, if we were treated in that way, we would probably might do silent bhajan somewhere, yes. But Srinivas and his brothers carried on all night long louder then ever, chanting the Holy Names
Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare
And Thakur Haridas, he was sitting in his cave on the bank of Ganga in the forest of Phuliyagram (56.34), chanting minimum three hundred thousand names of Krsna everyday, that means minimum 192 rounds. Why? He did it for the exclusive purpose at that particular time of bringing Krsna to this world, to deliver the most fallen souls. So this was the second of the external reasons, because the prayers of the great Vaisnavas never, never ever in vain. Krsna is the Parmatma in the heart, Krsna knows our every desire, our every thought, everything..
(57.52) Isvara bhutanam……..
According to our desires, Parmatma is directing us, yes. So if he is all knowing, how much it affects within our heart, when he hears a devotee offering sincere, humble prayers for the well fare of another. There is no greater benediction, than having a sincere Vaisnava praying for us, because all you wealth, all your fame, all of your prestige, all of your skills and abilities do not necessarily touch Krsna but the prayers of the Vaisnavas connect us to Krsna. Krsna blesses us when a devotee is praying on our behalf, so yes to fulfill and honor the prayer of Advaitacharya, Srinivas and his brothers, Haridas Thakur and all the other Vaisnavas, Krsna decided to decent into this world. And there is a third reason Krsna comes in every yuga, in one of his plenary portion expansins, in order to establish the recommended process of religion for that age, he comes as a yuga avatar to bestow the yuga dharma.
In every kali yuga, the Lord incarnates to establish Harinaam Sankirtan, for this reason, to establish the transcendental chanting of the Holy names Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu appears. We often discuss, the glories names
(1.00.23) Maho cham……..
The names of the Lord is so glorious, even a person is born in an environment of the family of candala, if that person is sincerely chanting the Holy Names, its to be considered, that he’s being to all the holy places of pilgrimage, he’s performed all the religious purifications, he understood all the Holy Scriptures, He’s done all the ceremonial rituals of the Vedas, In fact, such a person who sincerely takes shelter of the Holy Name, even a candala can become a Guru of the whole world. That is the conclusion of the scripture, can deliver the whole world, but a very high class aristocratic brahman, who follow all the principles of brahman but doesn’t take shelter of the Holy Name, that person cannot even deliver himself, what to speak of anyone else.
Lord Caitanya gives example from the Purana, where there was yavana, who is a hunter, who goes hunting and attacked by a wild boar and as the boar was piercing him with his tusks, what was he chanting? Haram. Haram in the yavana language means abominal, because a boar is abominal, yes. Its not a glorious death, being killed in the battlefield is somewhat glorious, but being killed by a wild pig, its not very glorious, they eat stool. So as he was dying out of disgustment and fear, desperation, he cried “harama, harama, how abominal” but what happened to him? Harama, because Harama also meand “O my dear Lord Rama” and he chanted it offencelessly, he did not want anything at that last moment
(1.03.30) Anantakaley……..
What you remember at the time of death, you will attain without fail, that is the power of the Holy Name, he attained liberating without offense. The story of Ajamil, is often cited, he was living a sinful life of cheating others, addicted to his senses but by the will of the lord, by previous devotional service, he remembered his son Narayana, when he was leaving this world and he was freed of all his sins and was given chance to go back home go back to Godhead.
(1.04.21) Nam Nam kari………
All the power, beauty and opulence of the Lord is within the Name. Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur has explained to us “what is the power of the name” its non different to Krsna, its identical to Krsna. Krsna incarnates in this age in his name. We read about in Gita when Krsna says “when there is a decline in religion and a uprise in irreligion, he descends. So people ask all the time where is he? Look at the world today, a pralaya of irreligions. There is tsunami of irreligion crashing against practically every living entity in the whole planet, yes. Inundation, where is God?
(1.05.25) Kali ……..
Krsna has descended in this age, He descends in His name and all the power of all the incarnations is within the name, why? Because Krsna is non different from His names. We simply have to chant with proper consciousness and reciprocate with his love that has descended in his Name. When Krsna appeared , very few people recognized Him, So many people consider, that he was just a powerful person. That was Sisupal’s idea, he just saw Krsna in the ordinary way. So similarly, when Krsna appears in His name, without association of devotees, we cannot understand, appreciate or reciprocate with the mercy of the Name, therefore, it hardly helps us. But yes, God, with all of His powers, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur said “if just access the name,” what will happen, if we just chant sincerely, then the Name will reveal the ecstatic form of Radha Gopinath. We are seeing the deities of Radha Gopinath everyday but are attracted are we really seeing them? According to nature of our love, they reciprocate and reveal themselves in our hearts. When we chant the Name of the Lord sincerely, from within the heart, Krsna and Srimati Radharani, we are chanting their Names, they reveal their eternally, unlimited, beautiful, sweet forms of Goloka Vrindavan. They reveal it in their Name. We understand that , the Name is not different, it doesn’t represent Krsna, The Name is Radha Gopinath, the Name reveals the qualities of the Lord, the loving kindness of the Lord, the Name reveals the abode of the Lord.Within the two syllables Krsna, with the two syllables Hare, is the entire Goloka Vrindavan and all the pastimes, the leelas of the Lord are within the Name, revealed through the Name. There is nothing else required, through the chanting of the Names, the names actually brings us right into the leelas and reveals our constitutional identity, our eternal personality in the spiritual world, that is the power of the Name. So Mahaprabhu taught us how to chant. Take this verse, “put it on the string of Holy Names and wear it always”
(1.09.22) Trinal rupi………
Recently I heard about my God sister, she was living Vrindavan and super excellent cook. The first temple I ever lived in Iskcon was in Amsterdam on way after India. She was the head cook, in fact she was the only cook. She was the only woman, the whole temple is of brahmacharies and one lady who is the cook, she reality cooked, she is fantastic, but later on she was cooking in Vrindavan. And one devotee, our God-brother was really, really upset with her and she was really upset with him. And he was taking away her services, so she was very, very disturbed, extremely disturbed. And to be disturbed in Vrindavan is a very difficult thing. So she went to one of Prabhupada’s friend, Bhagatgi, who lived close to Krsna Balaram Temple and she reveal her heart, “I am so disturbed, this person is not treating me properly, he is really aggressive against me, he is taking away my services, mistreating me, spreading thing about me, what should I do?” Bhagatji said “you should go to Prabhupada and just reveal your mind to him and tell him everything” but she said “I am afraid to do that” he said “ No no you should do it, he is your spiritual master, you can do it” “but I do that” he said “I am his friend, I will go with you and I will introduce you and then you can speak” so she said “alright, if you come with me and introduce the subject then I will speak” so they went to Prabhupada’s room, he was in the back room, the secretary brought this lady and Bhagatji and brought them into Prabhupada’s meeting, he said “he will be out, he will be coming in just a few minuites from the other room” . So the secretary left, the two of them are sitting there. Prabhupada comes out into the room, she turned to Bhagatji to introduce the subject, to her surprise Bhagatji, was gone, she was alone with Srila Prabhupada, in Vrindavan. And she didn’t know what to do, she did not know what to say and Prabhupada looked at her and said “So, why have you come?” and then Prabhupada didn’t even look at her, actually he did not look at her, actually he was looking at the beautiful paintings of Krsna on the walls of his room. She wanted to say something to him, but He was ignoring her, its hard to say something, when somebody is looking at the pictures on the wall, especially such important as this. And she was sitting and sitting and Prabhupada was looking at the pictures and then without even looking at her, Prabhupada said “you are in distress, there is only one solution”
(1.13.34) trinaldapi sunichan………
“That is the only way to overcome these obstacles, remember this verse always” and then Prabhupada left the room. And she was completely ecstatic, in fact she was so ecstatic that she tattooed that verse all over her body, so she would not forget it. Now please ladies don’t’ do that, you cannot imitate the great souls, you can try to follow the footsteps by trying to never forget that verse.
So this is Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s essential instructions of how to always chant the Holy Names, we repeated often, we forget, to humble like the grass, tolerant like the tree, offer all respect to others and really not expect respect in return, unless, we really, really strive for this state of consciousness, it not possible to really access the unlimited mercy of the Holy Name which reveals Radha and Krsna’s four opulence to the devotee. The Holy Name known in the age of kali can transport the soul to the highest rounds of Goloka, without even leaving this body. That is the power. In this life we can be transported to Goloka, So, yes, the Lord has descended, but who is willing to recognize and receive the mercy, that is the real question. Without the yuga avatar, nobody can understand the yuga dharma. So therefore, Srimad Bhagavatam ends
(1.16.15) Nama Sankirtan …….
In this age of Kali, just by chanting the Holy Names, Naam Sankirtan, giving and bowing down before the Supreme Personality of Godhead, we can become free of our sins and what happens when we become free of our sins? Cetodarpanam Marjanam, our heart becomes pure Anandam Gudivardham and the ecstasy of the love naturally awakens. Thakur Haridas, he was glorifying the Holy Name, and in this age of kali, which is darkness, the Holy Name is like the Sun. When the name actually rises on the horizon of our hearts, its bestows the Supreme light of Krsna Prema. Krsna Prema is so rare, it is so treasured, so such value that in comparison mukti, liberation is insignificant. So in just naam vas stage we are not even chanting purely, we get liberated. Just like before the Sun even rises, darkness is decipated. So therefore, Haridas Thakur was preaching “mukti, which is the ultimate goal of pratically of all the yogis, gyanis in the Himalayas and everywhere else, that’s their ultimate goal, they are performing lifetimes of austerity and study, restricting themselves from so many pleasures, focusing their mind, disciplining their bodies for mukti and here Haridas Thakur is telling the public that mukti is insignificant by product of Krsna Prema, Hare Krsna.
And one brahman, Gopal Chakravarti, he did not like that. But that’s another story. So this is a reality.
(1.18.55) Naam sankirtan…..
Srimad Bhagavatam declares, that “there is nothing so auspicious in all of creation, as the sincere loud chanting of the Holy Name.
Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
And what auspiciousness means? Something that is auspicious that dispels pain and ignorance and suffering. Something that is auspicious, rejuvanates, enlivens and enlightens the heart, yes. Now people do so many different things to invoke auspiciousness, yes. There are so many superstitions and so many ceremonies and so many rituals and so many ideas on how to invoke auspiciousness. People do mantra and tantra, yantra and mujja pudra (1.20.25), so many things to invoke auspiciousness. According to mode of nature you are in, you invoke auspiciousness. Just like when those dacoits wanted to kill Nityananda and the Vaisnavas, they failed in one attempt. The first time, at that time they were thinking “when its gets dark and we get the message, that they are sleeping, then we will attack and till then lets rest” and all of them fell asleep. Nidra Devi came, they all fell asleep and soon its day time, the sun is out and they are just laying there, out in the open with their weapons, they run away. And they started to say “you started to sleep, why didn’t you wake me up, you were suppose to wake me up, no you fell to sleep” meanwhile people are watching “what is this, they are the dacoits” then the leader said “No, I know why because we did not invoke auspiciousness by offering blood, meat and wine to the Goddess Mangala Chandi, therefore, without these auspicious acts, we cannot do these auspicious things” Hare Krsna.
So everyone wants auspiciousness, but here in the Srimad Bhagavatam it is explaining that “the Supreme most auspicious environment is created by the loud chanting of the Holy Names, there is nothing in all the fourteen worlds that bring about a more auspicious experience than the chanting of Krsna’s Name.
Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
So we are speaking slokas, that were compiled five thousand years ago in the original vedic literatures, Prabhupada explains in the purports we read today “ Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, he did not invent anything, although he is the Supreme Personality of Godhead
(1.23.10) Dharma tu…..
He is the person who has invented all the religion
(1.23.22) Vedanto…….
Krsna says “I compiled vedas, I am the ultimate goal of the Vedas and I am knower of Vedanta” but yet Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu comes in the role of a devotee and extracts the essence from all the scriptures and delivers that to the world. And what is that essence? That “in this age of kali yuga,
(1.24.05) Harinaam, Hari naam…..
There is no other way in this age of kali to achieve the ultimate perfection of life than chanting the Names of Hari. That is the essence and what is the purpose of chanting the names of Hari? Lord Caitanya just didn’t give the name he came the culture to chant with, he gave the disposition of consciousness, we are not chanting for material benefit, we are not chanting for liberation, not chanting for mystic powers, we are chanting for the Purusarta Shiromani, the crest jewel of all goals of life unalloyed, unadulterated, pure selfless love to Krsna.
(1.24.55) Anyabhilasa…..
We don’t want anything except to give Krsna satisfaction by our love. When we make that our aspiration and we follow in the mood of Lord Caitanya, he came in the role of a devotee to teach, he was always humbly serving the Vaisnavas, he took an initiation from a bonafide spiritual master and served he Guru with menial, humble devotion. He was respectful to all and he was always, always eager to preach this message to others. So yes Lord Caitanya taught us the value of gift of the Holy Name.
One who has faith in the Holy Name of Krsna, will overcome all obstacles. That is a major difficulty in a devotees’s life. We just don’t have that faith in chanting Hare Krsna. If we just have that faith, there is no obstacle that we cannot overcome. There is a beautiful verse in Caitanya Caritamrita Lord explains how, for one who remembers Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, even the most difficult things can be overcome, but for one who forgets Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu even simple things become impossible. If we have faith, if we have faith in Krsna’s name as being identical to Krsna, all merciful, fully accessible even to you and me, then we can not overcome the day to day problems we can actually cross over the ocean of birth and death. That is the power of the Name, thus association of the devotees is so very, very critical because it is in that association. Hearing form the devotees, speaking with the devotees, exchanging these 6 loving reciprocation with the devotees in the mood of a servant, that environment awakens faith. Faith is not something put into you, faith is awakened from within, the soul has complete faith.
(1.28.15) Yas ya…..
One who has complete faith in the simply the mercy of the spiritual master, all the imports of the Vedas are automatically revealed. This is the power of faith, what is the power of faith? If we analyze it carefully, the power of faith is simply, faith opens our heart ot receive, to the degree we have faith, we can receive, yes. Just like, when you have complete faith in the doctor, you will just take what ever medicines he gives you. If you don’t have complete faith, there will always be second blessings. Maybe this, maybe that, yes. If you have complete faith in someone, you will trust them, you will do what ever they say, you will be completely open to their mercy and compassion.
The Lord has descended in the Name, when we have faith in the Name, we can actually depend on the Name. When we have faith in the Name, we won’t be artificially seeking shelter in so many other things. Why do we seek shelter in so many other things? Because we really do not have that faith in Krsna. Therefore faith is essential, faith is foundational to all our spiritual advancement, why? Because faith simply opens our heart up in proportion to our faith, our heart is opened to receive mercy. From an other point of veiw, if we have faith in someone who is cheating us, then to what extent we can be plundered and exploited, yes. The blind lead the blind and they both fall down into the ditch and break their bones and trapped, yes. If you have faith in fallable soldiers, who are fighting in the army of kali, then what will happen to us? And that’s the problem in this world. Maya knows the science perfectly, kali knows the science so well, if they can some how or the other dupe us in having faith in their promises, then we are defeated, we are their property and that is what kali yuga is about. People have faith in the mundane scientist.
Srila Prabhupada, out of mercy sometimes to the western minds, some of the things he said was so extreme, especially about scientist and about so different scientific accomplishments. Prabhupada, why are you saying that? It doesn’t really matter, if they went here or didn’t go there, it really doesn’t matter so, Prabhupada even said it didn’t really matter. But what does matter, is the break your faith in fallable soldiers of these illusionist, yes. You put your faith in them and ultimately their whole culture, whole system is you are this body and that you are the enjoyer and you can’t separate one thing from the other. Therefore Prabhupada really wanted to break our faith in influence of kali, because the degree we have in faith in kali, to that degree we cannot put our faith in Krsna. Prabhupada was very simplistic in sense, he said doesn’t matter what anybody said, the scripture says this “this is right” that’s all, yes. Scientist have all kinds of research and all kinds of experimentations and all kinds of evidence, but this is something about the nature of moon, and Prabhupada says “whatever they say, the scripture say something different, therefore we accept the scripture. That all” Does that sound too simple for you? If you put faith in Maya, if you put faith in Kali, however sensible it looks, however logical it is, however attractive it appears, you are their property, you are controlled Therefore we have to put our faith in God, which is revealed in the Holy Scriptures. And what is the essence of the scriptures? To always remember Krsna and never forget Krsna and what is the essence of how do we always remember Krsna and never forget him? Naam Sankirtan
Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
Param Vijayatey Sri Krsna Sankirtan
What does that mean? The prime benediction for all humanity, all glories to the Sankirtan Movement of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Faith. The association of devotees is critical, because by reciprocating with devotees and hearing and chanting in mood of sevice, faith awakens in our heart and that faith opens us to receive mercy of the Name.
Srila Prabhupada told the devotees, this is in 1972, “if you just have faith in this teaching, if you just have faith as Krsna as a Supreme Personality of Godhead who is non different from his Name, said you can take over the world in eighteen days, that will be your power”. Hare Krsna. That was Prabhupada’s faith. He demonstrated faith. Jaladuta, heart attacks, sea sickness, arrives in New York, poverty, stroke, no help, why did he continue? Prabhupada said he had only two things, he box of books, now many you would feel comfortable in that situation with a box of books? What does that mean, he had a box of books? He said, when he came off the Jaladuta, he had nobody could see waiting for him, he just had two heart attacks, days before, he was still dizzy due to sea sickness, he had no money, exchangeable, he had no place. He didn’t even know single person, the only person he indirectly knew was living about 800 miles away and he walked off the boat and he was looking right and left and which way to go, he didn’t know what to do? But he told Brahmananda prabhu, he said “but I felt completely secured, because I had my books.” What does that mean, study, analyse. Those books were Srimad Bhagavatam, Prabhupada had complete faith in the message and the power of Srimad Bhagavatam.
(1.37.40) Krsnay…….
After Krsna leaves this world, Kali yuga begins. But Krsna appears to give light within this dark age of kali through the message of Srimad Bhagavatam. Prabhupada had faith in Srimad Bhagavatam. He had faith in the spiritual master and he had complete faith in the power, in the mercy of Krsna’s holy Names, He demonstrated it. Why? Acharya, to teach by his example. We have to long for this faith, we have to beg for this faith, we must pray for this faith and we must do needful to get this faith.
(1.38.50) trinaal sunecha……
When we are humble, we are tolerant, when we respect others and don’t expect for oneself, we attract Krsna’s mercy, which awakens that love in our heart. So Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, he descended from Goloka Vrindavan, to bring with him the Supreme, most powerful of his weapons. Lord Varahadeva, He killed with His tusks Hiranyaksa. Narashimhadeva killed with His razor sharp claws Hiranyakashipu. Parshurama, killed with His chopper with the speed of Mind, the demons. Sri Ramachandra, He killed the demons with His arrows. Krsna, He severed the head of the demons, with His Sudarshan Chakra. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, is the sum of all the avataars, swayam Bhagavan, Krsna is the Purna avatar, that means that all the other avataars are present within his form. That is Krsna. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu appeared in this world according to time, place and circumstance He reveals so many different avataars. When he was walking though the streets of Navadwip, he heard so many Visnu Sahastranama, they chanted the Name of Narshimhadeva, he went into the rage of Narshimhadeva “roaring, where are the asuras, where are the offenders of the devotees” and everyone was running away in fear. He actually became Lord Narshimhadeva, it wasn’t a show, it wasn’t a street drama. He became Narshimhadeva, that mood fully manifested from Him. And then Srinivas Thakur, said “My Lord please, everyone is running away” and Lord Caitanya said “ O I have offended everyone, look what I have done” because he was in ecstacy of Narshimhadeva, He became so absorbed in Narshimhadeva, that He became Narshimhadeva. First in the the role of devotee, he was listening, ecstasy in hearing the Name and then He was so absorbed in the Name that he forgot He was in the role of a devotee and He became Narshimhadeva. That is ecstatic, that is the esctatsy of the divine. A person was chanting Narshimhadeva, so He was reciprocating. Srinivas said “no, no, no Lord, who ever saw you in this mood, will be liberated from the cycle of birth and death , they have achieved your mercy.”
Another time he heard the word sukara or Varahadeva, and he actually came to Murari Gupta’s house and literally manifested the form of Varaha Roop and picked up a pot from his temple room, which represented the Earth and put on his tusks. At the time of taking the sacred ceremony form his father Jaganatha Mishra, He actually assumed the form and mood of Vamanadeva. When he was sitting on the pots, the dirty ports and his mother was asking him to come off, He actually manifested Dattatreya, the personality of Dattatreya manifested fully in Lord Caitanya. So Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu was Krsna, coming to assume the mood of Sri Radha’s love. But we should understand, all the avataars are fully within Him. That is Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. So He comes to this world with his greatest weapons, what is that weapon? The weapon of the Holy Name. Because the weapon of the Holy Name can kill the demoniac mentality within the worst asuras with harming their bodies and make them ecstatic devotees. Thus Thakur Narottam das has prayed
(1.44.55) Deen hetha…..
This is the power of the Holy Name, this is the weapon of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. That even Jagai and Madhai of equal abominability as Hiranyaksa, Kumbhakarna, Hiranyakashipu, Ravana, Sishupala, Dantavakra, same demoniac substance, cruel murderers, rapists, robbers, drunkers, flesh and blood eaters, but they were more humble than blades of grass, more tolerant than the trees, with the folded palms, with all respect to others in dong the most menial service to strangers and not expecting any respect for oneself, they became completely spotless in their morality. How is that possible? Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda Prabhu wanted to show the world that Supreme power of the Holy Names for those who have faith to receive it. So yes, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, is yuga avatar, He has descended to manifest the glories of the Holy Name.
(1.46.45) Krsna banogopa……..
In this age of Kali, those who have good intelligence, they will worship the Supreme Lord, who appears in his beautiful complexion, along with his associates and how did they worship Him? By the ultimate expression of worship, the Sankirtan of Holy Names.
Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
I do not know how much nectar these two syllables Krsna have produced, when the Holy Name of Krsna dances upon my tongue, I desire many, many tongues. When that Name enters my hearts, I desire millions and millions of ears and when that Name enters the core of My heart, My entire consciousness is conquered, my senses become inert. That is Roopa Goswami’s experience of what happens, with a person with faith Chants the Holy Names. That is our treasure, that is what we are aspiring for. Prabhupada explained how the best substance of our spiritual progress comes from the chanting of the Holy Names. That is why it is os very, very critical to learn the humble attitude of selfless service, because it is only through that attitude, that we can be in actually in proper frame of mind to call out Krsna’s name and then everything is accomplished. The mercy of te Lord flows into our hearts unlimitedly, cleanses all anartha and awakens ecstatic love.
So Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu as a yuga avataar, everything He did was to teach us proper mood to chant
(1.49.40) aham na…….
I am not a brahman, I am not a kshatriya, I am not a vaishaya, I am not sudra, I am not a brahmachari or a grihasta or vanaprasta or sanyasi. I am not concerned with any social or spiritual designations. I am not a temple president, I am not Guru, I am not a GBC, I am not a head Pujari, I am not ahead cook, I am not a cousellor, what am I? Lord Caitanya told
(1.50.28) Gopit……
Anu das, I am the smallest particle there is, yes. I am not das, das aloo das. Its not like that, it’s the smallest, most insignificant creation, its want anu means, means infinitesimal. Did you ever heard of that word Infinitesmal? Infinite means beyond our imagination, beyond our all comprehension, all pervading and large, yes. Well infinitesmal is the same principle in smallness. Infinitesmal means beyond our comprehension how minute, how insignificant it could possibly be. And that is anu. The most insignificant, infinitesmal tiny particle of a servant, of a servant of a servant of a servant of a servant of a servant. Mahaprabhu said that “that is what I aspire to be, that is my identity” and he was a brahman and he was sanyasi and He has already conquered Keshav kasmiri, he was the greatest scholar. And he was the most beautiful, He has all the oppulences. This is greatness. When a person has oppulences and still totally humble that is an extraordinary greatness, that it can even melt the hearts of people who have steel framed hearts, yes. But this is Lord Caitanya, who is Balarama ? Balarama is one who is the source of all incarnations, Krsna Balarama, yes. Maha Visnu, just by His breathing is creating and destroying entire material existence, yes. Varahadeva, Narshimhadeva these are just His parts and parcels. These are just partial manifestations of the opulence of the Lord, Here is the Supreme Lord in His all opulence as Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda.
(1.53.25) Parama Karuna……..
So kind, with straw in their teeth, they are begging people, falling in the ground and rolling like golden mountains rolling in humility “please take the Name of Krsna”. That is greatness. Due to kali, due to Maya, the world is mislead to have a completely wrong misconception of what is great. What is cheap and true eternal value is consider great and what is great is considered cheap, that is maya. So Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu chants these beautiful verses “My only neo identity, my aspiration is to be servant of the servant of the servant of the servant. Why?
(1.54.30) Hari nam Hari nam …….
There is only one way in the age of kali for liberation of the highest and that is chanting Hare Krsna, therefore Mahaprabhu is showing us the disposition of our consciousness, the humility and the desire to serve Him and please, that is required to get that mercy, that faith to make our hearts receptive, to receive the full blessing of Krsna who has descended into His Holy Name.
Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
What was attainable in Satya yuga, 60,000 years of meditation in a solitary place, fasting and following complete rules of celibacy. What was attainable in the Treta yuga, by performing yajnas, which would practically take one’s whole life just to some how or other to accumulate proper paraphanalia and the proper ability to perform the yajna perfectly. What was attainable in Dwapar yuga by very perfectly performing the ceremonial worship of the deity in the temple. With all the oppulences, chanting each mantra very specifically and correctly. Making all the offering correctly, at the right time, with the right consciousness, very difficult. That same ultimate goal is achieved easily in this age of kali by simply taking shelter of Krsna’s Holy Names.
Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
(1.57.05) Golokena …….
From the topmost abode, Goloka Vrindavan, the Holy Name has descended into this material world to deliver even the most wicked and envious, even the fallen souls of Kali yuga. That is the mercy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, it is the Yuga Avataar that brings down that shower of mercy.
So it was the scheduled time for Yuga avataar to come. But these are only the external reasons why Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu appeared. Should I continue?.... Should I end here? Brahmachari what should I do? Please say Haribol if you are still awake, I guess you are awake now !
Desiring to understand Radharani’s love, the wonderful qualities she relishes through Her own love and the happiness she feels when she realizes the sweetness of His love, the Supreme Lord Hari, richly endowed with her emotions appeared from the womb of Sachidevi, as the moon appeared from the ocean. Yesterday it was explained, how Krsna in his original form of swayam Bhagavan, Rasaraj appears only in one, one in a day of Brahma, it is very rare. A day and night of Brahma is over 8 billion years, only once in that lifespan, does Krsna appear in His original form. His partial expansions, the Yuga avataar, they come in every age. We were describing yesterday, the four ages, the Lord appears in every single age as the Yuga Avataar, the four ages together is a divya yuga. One thousand divya yugas, that means one thousand cycles of the four ages is a day of Brahma. The span of fourteen manvantaras, incredible. That is when Krsna appears. So Krsna appeared when, in the 28th divya yuga, sweta varaha kalpa of the vaivasat Manu (2.01.08). Just at the end of Dwapar Yuga, and He returned to His abode and in Goloka Vrindavan, Krsna is thinking, it is revealed in the scriptures, Krsna appears because Love of God crippled by the sense of all reverence, isn’t completely pleasing to His heart. Other Avataars can give that, Love of God , as an eternal obedient servant to the Supreme father or a master. But what pleases Krsna’s heart even more so, is Love that indued, that is viewed with sweetness and intimacy. The cowherd boys are playing with Krsna, they are throwing balls at Krsna and Krsna is catching and throwing it back, yes. How sweet, he can’t do that with the Universal form.
Its very difficult of conceiving doing that with Lord Narshimhadeva, or even with Lord Narayana, because all His arms are holding weapons and flowers and conch shells but her, the Gopas are picking bail fruits and “krsna catch” and Krsna runs and catches and says “Subal, catch” and Subal catches it and they are throwing it, having games. Seing who can catch the best. And sometimes they are imitating animals. The cowherd boys start imitating frogs, yes. The frogs are jumping and they are right behind them jumping with the frog. But they are doing it in such a way that Krsna sees. Because they are doing it for Krsna’s pleasure, they are not doing it for frog’s pleasure. They are doing it for Krsna but they are also doing for the frog’s pleasure because they know if they please the frog, they please Krsna. So ultimately they doing it for Krsna, so they are jumping like frog, jumping like frog, just like frog and then the frog jumps in the water, so just to please Krsna, they jump in the water. Then Krsna laughs and that the perfection of their life, yes. Now there are Maha pandits who are studying the Vedanta and memorizing hundreds and thousands of slokas and giving lectures to hundreds and thousands of people, displaying mystical oppulences but they don’t even please Krsna even 1/billionth as the cowherd boy imitating a frog. Why? Because of the intimacy, the confidential sweetness of their love for Krsna, “He is my friend.” And they wrestle with Krsna and sometimes they carry on their soldiers and sometimes Krsna carries them on His solders, just to show the world, “I am conquered by the Love of My devotee”. Then Yashodamai, she is chastising Krsna, She picks up a stick and He is crying. He is literally crying, He is shaking, there tears flowing from His eyes, His lips are trembling, they are saying “Mother please, please put down the stick” . She says “Why, Why did you steal the butter?” He says “ I will only tell you when put down the stick, put down the stick, I will never do it again, I did it, but just put down that stick” Now Krsna is afraid of a stick? In His partial expansion as Rama, Ravana, Kumbhakarna they were throwing clubs and arrows and arrows with shakti of the Gods and He was not the slightest bit concerned. But here is Krsna crying, trembling and in fear of a little stick, and it wasn’t even a stick like our security guards have. It just a little stick. How wonderful, how Krsna is literally conquered by the intimacy of the Love of His mother and when there’s thunder, Krsna gets up in bed jumps into the bed of his mother and just curls in her arms and He is shaking and trembling because of thunder and she starts kissing Him and bracing Him and He just smiles. That is Krsna.
And conjugal love, the love of Gopis. How much they conquer Krsna? He confesses “I cannot repay you for your Love for me, with all I posses in an entire lifetime of Brahma” He is captured by Gopis, He is feeling deep intense separation from the Gopis. Intimacy of Love, He is dancing with Them. You don’t see Prahalad dancing with Narshimhadeva, they have a perfect loving relationship. You know, Hanuman dances but did you ever see Him dancing with Rama, yes. He will dance everywhere else, but with Rama, He is like this (folded hands, head down). The intimacy of Vrindavan is intensely sweet, that the Gopis is dancing with Krsna for an entire night of Brahma they are dancing in esctatic Love. So Krsna, unless He Himself personally, Krsna of Goloka can bestow the intimacy of this kind of love upon the devotees. Therefore Krsna decided “I must myself descend” and manifested His wonderful leelas, in His Krsna Avataar. But as Kali Yuga progressed, who can understand, so high, so deep, so inaccessible to the common people. Krsna wanted to make is accessible. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu came, but Swaroop Damodhar Goswami prays
(2.09.13) Anarapith…
He has come to give what nobody has given. No other avataar has given so freely, the Love of the Gopis to the common people. He is actually freely, making it available to anyone, who ever you are He is actually He is willing to actually invest your heart with the same type of spiritual love as the Gopis, That is the special, profound mercy of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. That is what very much differentiates Him although He is one with and from all the other avataars.
Krsna in Goloka cannot phantom the Love of Srimati Radharani, It is described, that at one time Krsna, He looked into a jewel pillar and saw His own reflection and beame intoxicated with madness, just seeing His own beauty. Now how many of you go through that when you look into the mirror? Usually we are thinking “what changes to make to hide” what ever we don’t want people to see, that is what mirror are for, are they not? It’s the function of mirrors in kali yuga. People sit in front of the mirror for so longtime. Usually trying to make adjustments, so to hide things people don’t want people you to see. That is what cosmetic industry is about, that by somehow or the other artificially enhance it. But Krsna sees His reflection and He goes into intoxication madness by His own beauty. And then He is thinking “what is it, that Srimati Radharani feels when She sees My beauty?” When Srimati Radharani, sees a Tamal tree, just the resemblance of the bark of the tree to My complexion, She goes completely mad and embraces the tree. When a slight breeze carries the scent of my body before Sri Radharani, she becomes so mad and intoxicated. She just wants to fly and merge into the breeze. Her esctacies are something that Krsna admits that even He cannot comprehend. He is the Supreme object of Love. He is the Vishaya Vigraha of Prem. He is the object of ecstatic love. Srimati Radharani is the Ashraya Vigraha of Prem. That means She is the abode of Prem, She is the Lover. And what does the Ashraya experiences, even the Vishaya Vigraha cannot comprehend. Therefore desiring the Glory of Radharani’s love, the wonderful qualities in Him, that She alone relishes through Her love and the happiness She realizes the sweetness of His love. The Supreme Lord Hari, richly endowed with her emotions appear from the womb of Srimati Sachidevi as moon appeared from the ocean. Once in the day of Brahma, thus Krsna descend to this world with the sentiment and complexion of Srimati Radharani. And with the compassion of Radharani as the Supreme Universal Mother of all living beings. To nourish all her children with all Her love. That is Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu,
(2.14.47) Sri Krsna Caitanya…….
The loving affairs of Sri Radha and Krsna are transcendental manifestation of the Lord’s internal pleasure giving potency, although Radha and Krsna are one in their identity, they separated themselves eternally. Now these two transcendental identities, have again united in the form of Sri Krsna Caitanya, I bow down to Him, who has manifested Himself with the sentiment and complexion of Srimati Radharani, although He is Krsna Himself. May the Supreme Lord, who is known as son of Sachidevi, be transcendentally situated in the innermost chamber of your heart, displaying with the radiance of the molten Gold. He has appeared in the age of Kali, by his causeless mercy to bestow, what no incarnation has offered before the most sublime, the radiant mellow of devotional service, the mellow of conjugal love. This is the inconceivable internal reasons why Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu appears.
So Krsna from Goloka, in the mood of Sri Radhika appear at the exact same time as the scheduled Yuga Avataar, and the Yuga Avataar merges within Him, to simultaneously bestow the highest fortune upon all of us. Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu is giving this highest treasure, how through service to Vaisnavas and through showing compassion to the fallen souls, and by humility and tolerance taking shelter of His own self. Which has come in His Name.
Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu has made a garland, with Naam Sankirtan and Krsna Prem. With his own loving hands, He has made this garland and He has come in a spirit of Love and respect to place that garland on the whole material world. Which means, He has come to place that garland on each and everyone of us personally. That’s what it means. Putting the garland of Krsna Prema and Krsna Naam on the entire material world, What does that mean? What’s the entire material world? Its not just some impersonal conception, what it means is that every living entity within this material world. We are all within this world. By putting it on the whole material world, he is putting it on us, personally. The question is simply, who is willing to receive it. The Krsna garland of Krsna Naam and Krsna Prema is so important to understand in this principle. Krsna Naam is the means of achieving Krsna Prema. What is the function of one in Krsna Prema, Krsna Naam? Is that confusing, its not confused here, but I am confusing it while saying it !!
Prabhupada was asked, “what do you get out of this chanting of Hare Krsna, will you get material wealth, will you get material power, will you get mysticism, will you get liberation?” Prabhupada said, “ all we want in chanting Hare Krsna Mantra, our goal is to chant
Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
For Krsna Naam we get Krsna Prema, through Krsna Prema we get Krsna Naam, from Krsna Naam we get Krsna Prema and it goes on for all of eternity. In the conditioned state
(2.20.20) Cetodarpanam Marjanam….
I associate with Drivida a little too much in Mayapur ! I am soory
The seven flames of Sankirtan purify our complete heart, awaken the embrosial nectar of love of God within our heart. That is our power of chanting, but then what happens, Krsna Prema. When we have Krsna Prema, then our ambition are goal, is to chant with that Holy Name, yes. Chanting the Holy Names of the Lord is the eternal dharma, the service of the all living entities, in all Vaikunthas love Krsna, yes.
(2.21.35) Satanam kirtanam…..
This is the quality of a great soul, they are constantly chanting my Holy Names and with great determination. So the goal of Krsna Naam is Krsna Prema, and the very essence of Krsna Prema is Krsna Naam. To glorify Krsna, that is what happening in the spiritual world, is the glorification of Krsna.
Actually Prabhupada said “ everything we are doing in this movement is Krsna Naam, its Sankirtan. By making the garland, by distributing the books, by cooking for the deities, its all part of the Sankirtan. Its all glorification of Krsna, in the spiritual world, there is nothing but, the glorification of Krsna and what is the meaning? Sankirtan, everyonte together, united, is glorifying Krsna for Krsna’s pleasure.
(2.22.40) Tovaibhi ta ……
This is the function of the Gopis in the spiritual world, they are praying “dear tongue, my dear tongue, my dear tonque, chant these name Govinda, Damodar, Madhavati”. Bilvamangala Thakur, whom Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, He worshiped him at the highest platform of Madhurya ras. He gave this words,
(3.34.36) Vivaiti……
This is the Gopis “tonque taste the nectar of Krsna’s Names” That is the spiritual world. That is Prema, only chant Krsna’s Name and with love and devotion, Krsna becomes ecstatic. Krsna is receiving in His name “my love will be chanted” That is the goal of life, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu has made this garland, Krsna Naam and Krsna Prem, and has come to this world. Along with his associates to place the garland on each and everyone of us. Mahaprabhu spread the Holy Name and the Sankirtan Movement like a wildfire in Navadwip. Why did He take sanyas? Because there were proud materialist people who escaped the network of His mercy. He took sanyasa so that they could bow down to Him, humble themselves, hear his words and so that he could give them K.rsna Naam and Krsna Prema. He took sanyasa to give this garland personally to those who were envious of Him. That is his mercy. And when He was in Varanasi, nobody wanted it, He came with the fruits of Love of God and He spoke to all of his followers for all of the time to come. This is Mahaprabhu, and what did He say “I am a fruit vender and I have so many unlimited fruits, each fruit is fully ripped, each fruit is so succulent, so nectarine that by just eating one fruit, one is satisfied to eternity. Have you ever tasted a fruit like tha? That is the fruit of Krsna Prema, I have come to distribute the fruits of Krsna Prema without discrimination.
Now most fruit vendors, according to the demand of the fruit, they have a price. Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda, the only price is our faith, that’s all. It doesn’t matter who we are, it doesn’t matter where from we have coming from, it doesn’t matter what we have done, it doesn’t matter where we have been, all that matters is the willingness to accept some faith. Lord Caitanya said “I have brought so many of these fruits” and He is appealing to all of His sincere followers, that “I have brought from the spiritual world, such a massive supply of fruits, that I cannot distribute them myself, I want all of you to help me distribute these fruits of Love of God through Krsna Naam Sankirtan. Therefore, it is such an intimate loving service to Lord to preach this message. When you are distributing books, when you are arranging the temple for a wonderful festival, anything you do wihin this movement that is helping to reach others, with Hari naam, with devotional service, you are actually participating in distributing these fruits, which is so very, very dear to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
Our beloved Guru Maharaja, founder Acharya Srila Prabhupada, therefore was no one since the time of Mahaprabhu and Nityananda, who was so eager and empowered to take these fruits all over the world. Even at great risk, even in great pain. How much he is dear to Sri Caitanya mahaprabu, that we understand through Caitanya Caritamrita, and if simply as a servant of a servant of a servant of servant of a servant, anu, insignificant litter servants, if we just do what we have power to do, to assist Him, how dear we will become to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, that is Param Para. That is the real spirit of real Param Para, by taking the real spirit of previous Acharyas for our life. We give the most pleasure to Krsna. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabu, he has personally come, and He has personally empowered Prabhupada and personally through previous Acharyas, He is asking all of us to help, He wants us to receive this garland, of Naam Sankirtan and Krsna Prema from Him. And He wants us to assist Him in going person to person to person to person in placing this garland of Sankirtan and Krsna Prema. That’s what it means, He has put garland on the whole material world. He is making it available.
In our times, we can understand, that in this way
(2.30.00) Mahavadaya krsna….
Srila Roopa Goswami, when He chanted this verse, it was with full realization, of what? The store house of nectarine world of Caitanya Mahaprabhu, personally brought with Him from Goloka Vrindavan to distribute to this world.
Now I will begin class !! actually I think we should end now and we will have kirtan and we will continue these evening and tomorrow and morning, afternoon and Sunday morning, afternoon and then Kirtaniya sada Hari. That is our goal, so please, very carefully, in your hearts, contemplate throughout the day, how fortunate we are, that Srila Prabhupada, He extended Himself, beyond any limits to give us this gift. Understanding the mercy of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
Vrindavandas Thakur explains that “Gourpurnima is the Holiest of All Holy days, as is the shukla triyodasi of the Month of Magha, the appearance day of Nityananda Prabhu, one who celebrates with faith and sincerity these days will undoubtedly receive the rippened fruit of Krsna Prema. So let us very, very gratefully and sincerely take advantage of this opportunity. This Holy day of Gour Purnima is like a deity within time, within this from sunrise to moon rise, on this particular day, there is an investment of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, which is inconceivable and causeless and whatever spiritual advancement, whatever prayer, what ever we take shelter of Hari Katha, Hari Kirtan and service to Vaisnavas, special, special merit will come into our lives. Just as, wherever Krsna Katha and Krsna kirtan is taking place is that place is non different from Vrindavan. Krsna never takes step out of Vrindavan, and he is also non different from His Name and His katha. Ane if His Name and Katha is herr, he never takes step out of Vrindavan, what does that mean? That by His mercy, Vrindavan is manifestating wherever the devotees are sincerely coming together to hear and chant, to serve. So on this day of Gour Purnima, hearing and chanting the glories of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, the most magnanimous abode of Navadwip has decended on us. So today we are in Sri Mayapur Dham on Gour Purnima celebrating Gour Purnima in the assembly of so many hundreds and hundreds of thousands of devotees. Let’s make advantage of every moment, do seva, make garlands, help with the cooking, help with the decorations, participate in the Kirtans, participate in the Bhajans, in the classes and most of all, try to keep your mind and heart always in the shelter of the most municificant manifestation of Krsna’s love, His Holy Names.
Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare

Thank you very much.
There is another reason we are ending early, this early actually, there is a very, very special announcement I have for all of you. A dream that has remained dormant, within the hearts of our devotees in ashrams, for many years has today manifested. I will reveal to you in due course of time. Does everybody see the Kadam flower garland that is decorating Lord Caitanya, on the altar. We were speaking last night this esoteric phenomena that on the smallest tree in our whole compound, we have six kadamba trees, this is the smallest and it gets the least amount of light and in Bombay, the kadamba flowers only grow in the monsoon rain seasons. All the big trees with abundant light, they are waiting for monsoons to give kadamba flowers, but this particular tree, amazingly, I will venture to say miraculously, some brahmacharis woke up in the morning just a couple of days before Gour Purnima and saw fairly blossomed kadamba flowers on this tree, out of season. See. Something else is interesting,is it’s the smallest tree in the darkest place that is giving the sweetest flower. That is Nityananda’s Prabhu’s mercy. So we have made a wonderful garland for Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, with the kadamba flowers from his own personal tree and it’s a bengali kadamba tree also.
But that is not I am speaking about. In order to to appreciate, what I am about to tell you, I will have to give you an elaborate historical account. Are you ready?
It begins with Brahma, at the time of creation, He was given transcendental knowledge by Krsna. Krsna played His flute and Brahmaji was in enlightened with all transcendental knowledge, simply by hearing the sound of Krsna’s flute. It manifested His Gayatri Mantra within His heart.Kaam Gayatri. So this knowledge was reserved by the most merciful, enlightened, most of our Acharyas in the disciplinic succession are intimate confidential associates of the spiritual world. They decent ot help Lord Caitanya’s Param Para. Inconceivable, Brahma gave this knowledge to Narada, who gave it to Vyasadeva. Who shared it with Madhvaaharya, through the line of Param Para, Madhvendra Puri, Isvara Puri, Mahaprabhu, the six goswamis, Narottam Das Thakur, Srinivas Acharya, Shyamananda Prabhu. Krsna Das Kaviraj Goswami, Visvanath Chakravarti Thakur, Baladeva Vidhyabhushan. Jaganatha Das Babaji, Bhaktivinod Thakur, Gour Kishor Das Babaji, Bhaktisiddhianta Sarasvati Thakur, All these personalities are waiting for us, they have given us the Supreme Treasure, they have all come to assist Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu in garlanding the Lord and all living beings in this world with the garland of Hari Naam and Krsna Prema.
Now the path of Bhakti is dynamic, but we could use all our talents, and all our intelligence to somehow or the other, reach people, somehow or the other melt their hearts and convince them of the goal of life. Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur especially wanted to utilize every type of technology and talent available to spead Lord Caitanya’s message of Love and one of the things He established was one of His prime preaching efforts was through dioramas or dolls, statues that depict the philosophy and pastimes of Personality of Godhead. Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur created an exhibition of dioramas, with philosophicals teachings, leelas and the greatness of the Acharyas. And he actually travelled around the country with these dioramas museums. Travelled with them and would go to towns and big cities, even Bombay. Establish these dioramas, set them up, invite people, have Naam sankirtan, Hari Katha and people would be attracted like anything. And it’s a type of preaching that can go very deep into people hearts, because its very non confrontational, it’s just the person by himself or herself seeing and reading and trying to understand, you could take your time, at your own pace and what He considered this a very, very powerful way of reaching people’s hearts. Because people are attracted to art, people are attracted to beauty, and to present philosophy in this context, its simply wonderful.
So it was one of His prime preaching efforts, is through exhibition of dioramas. And Srila Prabhupada, everything that Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur wanted took as His life and soul. Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, wanted printing presses, He wanted book production, He wanted book distribution and Prabhupada took that to such an extent He has distributed more books of Vedic literature than any person in the History of the world. Hundreds and millions of books have been distributed, under Prabhupada’s inspiration. Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur wanted temples, places where people could gather, take shelter of the Lord and get educated in the association of devotees, He established 64 temples all around India. Prabhupada took that from His Guru Maharaj and established in His life over a hundred and eight temples in every continent of the world, except Antartica. Australia, Japan, south-east Asia, Korea, China, Russia, all over North America, United States, Canada, Mexico, practically every country in South America, central America, all around Africa, practically every major city in Europe, eastern Europe, western Europe, that was Prabhupada’s potency.
Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur expressed the importance of temple, its all the six goswamis, they established temples, they wrote books, Prabhupada took it as life and soul. Lord Caitanya, the six goswamis, Bhaktisiddhanta Saravasti Thakur, they very much tried to eradicate the misconceptions of Mayavad philosophy. Srila Prabhupada
(2.47.250 Nirvesheas Sunya Vadi….
He saved millions of people from the crocdiles of monastic impersonal conception of Godhead. So yes, Prabhupada would only say “my only qualification is that I have complete faith in whatever repeating just what my Guru Maharaj has done and said.” Such fidelity, such chastity, such purity, such love in giving His Guru Maharaj, using all of his creative and divine empowerment for that purpose. So the list can continue for a long time. But one of the thing Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur did was establish dioramas exhibition for preaching. So in the very early seventies, Prabhupad had devotees, who actually developing expert artists, Adideva, Bharadraj, Locan other people like this, they were not only painters, they had some experience sculpturing too. Prabhupada send them to Mayapur and at a time where there were all straw huts there, to learn the science of making dioramas and what His desire was to make these devotees to make dioramas and make museums in America. Diorama museums and they did, the first museum they did I believe in Detroit, second in Los Angeles and Prabhupada the fate exhibition. As far as I have heard from Treydas Prabhu (.2.49.38). The word fate means First American Theist Exhibition.
I am just beginning the story, you are going to be very happy with what I am about to speak, I hope. I am so excited about to tell you, that I might not tell you. I spoke to Adiraj, just last summer, he lives in Aluchua, in Florida, I was at his home, and every year I meet Baradraj, he lives in souther California, near Tapanga Canyon. And they both tole me that “Prabhupada, brought them to Mayapur to learn dioramas because He wanted exhibitions for preaching, he did say he wanted diorama exhibitions in Bombay. You have seen Radha Rasabihari Temple in Juhu? Right in the temple room, surrounding everyone is diorama exhibition. That is Prabhupada order, He considered such a special way of reaching people’s heart. And recently I was speaking to Dwarkadhish doctor, and he said “when he was a young student that was one of the main, most powerful influence that convinced him of Krsna consciousness, is just seeing the dioramas, reading the text of that and just being able to just between him and Krsna contemplate, yes. It had a powerful effect in His life. Prabhupada wanted them it in India too, He wanted in Mayapur. So Prabhupada specifically wanted it in Bombay, he sent those devotees to Myapur to learn dioramas they were trying to find proper person to teach His foreign diciples. And one man came in , Adideva told me this story, he was the person in-charge of the whole dioramas exhibition department by Prabhupada’s commission. Adideva Prabhu told me that this one very young, small bengali came in and he had a piece of clay in his hand, just a ball and He was talking to Prabhupada as he was talking to he had just a little stick in his finger and he was doing something with the clay. Prabhupada was actually interveing him of his experience of diorama making and Prabhupada was very satisfied with what he said and at the end of the talk he held just little ball of clay up and it was a very perfect sculpture of Prabhupada’s potrait. He practically did not even look, Prabhupada said “this is the man, he will teach you” and he was the first siksha Guru for all the diorama committee of the best artist in Iskcon.
35 years later, Radha Gopinath Temple at chowpatty, for the pleasure of Prabhupada, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, our whole Param Para, back to to Radha and Krsna, today we are going to inaugurate Diorama exhibition. And the person who carved practically all the dioramas, if he didn’t carve them he trained some of our devotees how to do it personally, is that same personality who Prabhupada choose for Iskcon to make dioramas. Milaan. So this diorama exhibition has really the stamp of authority of Srila Prabhupada and the blessing of our previous Acharyas. And just now we are going upstairs, the diorama exhibit is up there, where the brahmacharis like Demigods are looking down upon us. Casting their blessing upon us. On Gour Purnima, both of you come please, come, come show them your moon like forms. We have casting their merciful blessings from above, we have Gouranga and Sri Caitanya. Its very auspicious, so right now we are going to inaugurate diorama exhibit just now by having whatever ceremonial observances the brahmacharis have decided. And I don’t know how many of you can fit there, but through out the day you can go up there and give your blessings to this effort. And also today we are officially inaugurating the Garden, we are naming the garden, Vrindavan Garden. So sometime during the day you can walk through the Garden but please do not pick any flowers.
Now what should we name the diorama museum, we cannot call it FATE because it means first American Theistic Exhibition. Now we must name is First Indian Theistic Exhibition and that FITE and people might get the wrong idea. So we will try to think of a name before moon rise this evening. So now we go and inaugurate the diorama exhibition for the pleasure of Sri Nitai Gourachandra, Radha Gopinath, Gopal, Srila Prabhupada and all the assembled Vaisnavas.
Thank you very much.
Hare Krsna.
In the temple there will be kirtan now?
We request everyone to participate in Kirtan as well, his grace Gour Gopal Prabhu, Keshavacharya Prabhu, Jay Sachinandana Prabhu, Sivaram Prabhu, Akincana Prabhu, all these great heroe of Sankirtan are assembled together to lead us in Hari Naam.
