At the age of only nineteen, Radhanath Swami left his home in America seeking adventure and spiritual knowledge. After trekking across Europe for months, Swami Radhanath reached his long hoped for destination: India. After living there for many years as a sadhu or wandering monk, Radhanath returned to America in order to share the sacred knowledge and wisdom he had learned from the many holy men and women he had met there. It was an extraordinary choice, given what Radhanath had survived to get there: a journey filled with bizarre characters, mystical experiences, and dangerous adventures. The story is recounted in his recently published memoir The Journey Home - Autobiography of an American Swami. Radhanath Swami emerged from his years of travel wanting to explain for others the beauty and rewards of a life devoted to God, and therein lay a dilemma. Radhanath Swami's many followers and friends describe him as completely selfless and consequently unwilling to take credit for his work and restless when a spotlight is focused on him. By choosing A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami (1896-1977), a Bengali Vaishnava Saint, as his guru (after declining offers of initiation from several tyagis or renunciants in the Himalayas), Radhanath Swami cast his fate to the wind, cut his matted locks, and entered back into the society.

tvam nitya-mukta-parisuddha-vibuddha atma
kuta-stha adi-puruso bhagavams try-adhisah
yad-buddhy-avasthitim akhanditaya sva-drstya
drasta sthitav adhimakho vyatirikta asse
tvam--You; nitya--eternally; mukta--liberated; parisuddha--uncontaminated;
vibuddhah--full of knowledge; atma--the Supreme Soul;
kuta-sthah--changeless; adi--original; purusah--person; bhagavan--the Lord,
full with six opulences; tri-adhisah--master of the three modes;
yat--whence; buddhi--of intellectual activities; avasthitim--all stages;
akhanditaya--unbroken; sva-drstya--by transcendental vision; drasta--You
witness; sthitau--for maintaining (the universe); adhimakhah--enjoyer of the
results of all sacrifices; vyatiriktah--differently; asse--You are situated.
TRANSLATION
My Lord, by Your unbroken transcendental glance You are the supreme
witness of all stages of intellectual activities. You are eternally
liberated, Your existence is situated in pure goodness, and You are existent
in the Supersoul without change. You are the original Personality of
Godhead, full with six opulences, and You are eternally the master of the
three modes of material nature. Thus, You are always different from the
ordinary living entities. As Lord Visnu, You maintain all the affairs of the
entire universe, and yet You stand aloof and are the enjoyer of the results
of all sacrifices.
PURPORT
An atheistic argument against the supremacy of the Supreme Personality
of Godhead states that if God, the Supreme Person, appears and disappears
and sleeps and awakens, then what is the difference between God and the
living entity? Dhruva Maharaja is carefully distinguishing the existence of
the Supreme Personality of Godhead from that of the living entities. He
points out the following differences. The Lord is eternally liberated.
Whenever He appears, even within this material world, He is never entangled
by the three modes of material nature. He is known, therefore, as
try-adhisa, the master of the three modes of material nature. In
Bhagavad-gita (7.14) it is said, daivi hy esa gunamayi mama maya duratyaya:
the living entities are all entangled in the three modes of material nature.
The external energy of the Lord is very strong, but the Lord, as the master
of the three modes of material nature, is ever liberated from the action and
reaction of those modes. He, therefore, is uncontaminated, as stated in the
Isopanisad. The contamination of the material world does not affect the
Supreme Godhead. Krsna therefore says in the Bhagavad-gita that those who
are rascals and fools think of Him as an ordinary human being, not knowing
His param bhavam. param bhavam refers to His being always transcendentally
situated. Material contamination cannot affect Him.
Another difference between the Lord and the living entity is that a
living entity is always in darkness. Even though he may be situated in the
mode of goodness, there are still so many things which are unknown to him.
But it is not the same for the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He knows
past, present and future and everything that is happening in everyone's
heart. Bhagavad-gita confirms this (vedaham samatitani). The Lord is not
part of the soul--He is the unchangeable Supreme Soul, and the living
entities are His parts and parcels. The living entity is forced to appear in
this material world under the direction of daiva-maya, but when the Lord
appears, He comes by His own internal potency, atma-maya. Besides that, a
living entity is within the time of past, present and future. His life has a
beginning, a birth, and in the conditioned state his life ends with death.
But the Lord is adi-purusa, the original person. In the Brahma-samhita Lord
Brahma offers his respect to the adi-purusa, Govinda, the original person,
who has no beginning, whereas the creation of this material world has a
beginning. The Vedanta says, janmady asya yatah; everything is born from the
Supreme, but the Supreme has no birth. He has all the six opulences in full
and beyond comparison, He is the master of material nature, His intelligence
is not broken under any circumstances, and He stands aloof, although He is
the maintainer of the whole creation. As stated in the Vedas (Katha Upanisad
2.2.13), nityo nityana-m cetanas cetananam. The Lord is the supreme
maintainer. Living entities are meant to serve Him by offering sacrifices,
for He is the rightful enjoyer of the results of all sacrifices. Everyone,
therefore, should engage himself in the devotional service of the Lord with
his life, his riches, his intelligence and his words. This is the original,
constitutional position of the living entities. One should never compare the
sleeping of an ordinary living entity to the sleeping of the Supreme
personality of Godhead in the Causal Ocean. There is no stage at which the
living entity can compare to the Supreme Person. The Mayavadi philosophers,
being unable to adjust to all this, come to the conclusion of impersonalism
or voidism.
Today we are reading Canto 4 of SB Ch 9 Entitle Dhruv Maharaj returns home
text 15.
Dhruva maharaj has demonstrated inconcevable power such mysticism he was
able to manifest that even the residents of sidhaloka were amazed, the
demigods who have great mystic powers were bewildered mastering the mystic
potencies a small child had, he relinquished eating, sleeeping even
breathing he even could control his mind to the extent that it was 24hrs fix
in the vision of Supreme Lords form he could stand for a month without
moving as rigid as pillar with all weight of his body on one toe. Class has
been going on for few minutes i see you all moving around its very hard to
stay at one place for one time. He became so heavy that the earth got pushed
down by his toe. By holding his breath he was able to withdarw oxygen the
air from the universe so that no one could breathe. Who could do this today.
Today if someone could produce little ashes or gold they claim themselves
to be God. People worship them as God. Can they do what Dhruv Maharaj has
done, he could actually control his senses. we haven't seen any of these
able to control their senses and they will justify their sense gratification
as rasa lila. we see these people getting old unless they put some dye on.
Dhruva maharaj was very powerful than any of these self made God today. When
he was standing face to face with lord he is admitting his insignificance.
Infact everyone is insignificant jivatma is insignificant and Paratma is
vibhu which means great. A living entity can never be compared to supreme
lord. Dhruva Maharaj is giving ex. and Srila Prabhupada in his beautiful
purport is explaining various arguments which people have - Krsna is a
person; He has desires and He performs activities but his activities are
above and beyond material existence. Srila Prabhupada here calls krsna
triyadesh which means he is master of material nature
Therefore krsna says in BG daivi hy esa gunamayi mama maya duratyaya : The
living entities are all entangled in the three modes of material nature. The
external energy of the Lord is so powerful but Krsna says if you surrender
unto me you can easily cross beyond material existence which is vast
unlimited ocean. SB explains those who try to cross this ocean on their own
abiity how far they will go but for one whos take shelter of the Supreme
Lord, by his mercy one can cross this ocean. He is master of all nature. we
are forced to take birth in this world according to our impious and pious
activities. Our existence is product of our previous karma the family we are
born in; the atomic particles which are composing our bodies; the enjoyment
coming to our life; our abilities and inabilities are simply result of past
karma but krsna describes in BG (4.9) that when he appears in this world:
janma karma ca me divyam
evam yo vetti tattvatah
tyaktva deham punar janma
naiti mam eti so 'rjuna
"One who knows the transcendental nature of My appearance and
activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this
material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna."
His activities are Divine transcendental means not under control of the laws
of nature. He simply acts as per his sweet will. if you eat indiscriminate
food then you will take next birth as hog. No body wants hog's body but you
are forced to be hog due to previous sins but krsna becomes varaha dev,
boar, but when krsna becomes hog he is not born from another hog or from
female hogini he simply comes out from brahmas nose
Everyone is worshipping him. As boar he roars like mountain he slashes his
tail. Everyone understands that he his Supreme personality of Godhead; He
kills the great asura like hiranyaksa. The Demigods are fearful of him.
After he performs his work he goes back to Vaikunta. Krsna is always God;
supreme controller. When krsna takes birth as son of Devaki; he first
appears as Lord Visnu fully dressed holding his 4 symbols in his 4 arms;
speaking transcendental knowledge to his mother and father; has any of these
Gods taken birth like that . He came out of the heart of Devaki just
appearing; there was no giving birth as we know today people giving you all
kinds of encouragement during labour pain. But Devaki was just in Bliss
giving birth to Krsna when he became little child by his own sweet will
within couple of days he killed gigantic demon putana. Lord Caitanya
Mahaprabhu appeared in same way by his own sweet will. when it was time for
birth he just appeared outside of Mother Saci. From his infancy he was
performing innumerable pastimes. that is Krsna. Dhruva Maharaj discusses how
visnu is sleeping yoga nidra; what kind of sleep it is - first of all he is
so big in size that universes are manifesting when he breathes and during
his inhalation universes are destroyed then again cosmic manifestions are
created. so people say if Supreme Lord sleeps and i sleep whats the
difference. but what do you create when you are sleeping - some wild noises.
After you wake up you have to brush your teeth, take bath how transcendental
is ur sleep; you have some crazy dreams. Visnu doesn't have to take bath,
brush his teeth. Krsna is supreme reality when krsna eats so aethestic
people say if God is eating i can also eat whats the difference. The
difference is he can eat with his eyes, mouth with any part of his body and
even with your mouth if you can eat but how much can you eat.
At New Vrndavan there was nice devotee named Taroo he was wellknown for his
eating capacity. It was some mystic capaity he was not even big he was just
medium sized. when it came to prasad in one city he eat 70 chapattis and pea
dal. We have seen with our own eyes nobody could eat more than him. Prasad
was not profused those days you have to be clever to overeat. while he was
eating his own prasad he was looking everyone else he was determined;
people would see him looking at their food he would tell them give it some
if you can't finish. we used to milk cows together. I told him tomorrow You
have to wake up early. we get up at 1:00 a.m.to chant our rounds. there was
no japa period. one time we got up at 1.30 a night before there were gulab
jamuns he eat so many gulab jamuns. I woke him up as we had to give water to
cows. He said i can't get up . I was taking bath and i was wondering where
is taroop prabhu while returning i found him sleeping in prasadam room which
was on the way he drank the whole juice of gulab jamuns and then he was
lying down. But then we read about krsna when he becomes Govardhan he
excepts the offering he took not just 20-30 of gulab jamuns he eat mountains
of gulab jamuns, 100 ' of galons of sweet rice, condensed milk, srikhand. he
did it all within mater of seconds.
Krsna told them what to prepare. how to prepare. Krsna had milions of
cowherd boyfriends millions of gopis huge civilization. describe by
bhagavat. made enough for eveybody. and he wasn't laying there get me some
antacid he said give me more he was ready to take thousand times more he eat
everything and asking for more.
Mahaprabhu during mahaprksah ila they were giving him 10's 1000's of
bananas, barrel of ganges water he was taking it qwithin seconds. so when
peoiple say when god weats i eat what is diff. there is diff. krsna is
unlimited. krsna has desires the diff u can never fulfill ur desires Krsna
is eternally satisfied. As controller of controller he can create whatever
he desires. Krsna is isvara parama he is suopreme controller of all
controllers. so SP said they can't adjust this. the concl. is supreme person
is ilusion we r illussion the mat. people r thinking he and i and same. In
order to become god they have to annihiliate his personality everything is
viod impersonal. But dhruva maharaj was indulged with full knowledge he is
here in describing his sublime realisation of the supreme position of
absolute truth ansd insigni. position of jivatma. from sastras rupa gioswami
explains constitutional nature of jkivatma. there r 64 qualities in lord 50
of those qualities the jiva can manifest if he is pure in minute qualities
only when i\he is in perfect stage of his self realisation. each quality is
minute particle compare to lord. And 55 of these qualities brahma and siva
can partially manifest. 60 of the qualities noone excvept lord narayan can
manifest but only krsna the supreme source who is rasaraj can manifest alll
64 qualities but when krsna manifest he manifest each one as deep unlimited
as ocean - inconceivable. krsna in vrndaban he manifest lila madhurya unique
sweet pasttimes no jivatma can brahma siva and narayan cannot manifest such
sweet pastimes and krsna 's pastimes he is subordivate to love of his
devotees. like satyavratmuni is praying i donot want wealth, liberation i
simply wants to remember the sweet pastimes of ur choildhood damodar lila
.and krsna has the prem madhurya the most confidentail love in devotees and
venu madhurya he plays his flute with such sweetness that it enchants the
entire existence and rupa madhurya his swarupa is very enchanting even
mahavisnu how he stole brahmans children . Brahman went to kind ugrasena
when u take a position u have to assume responsibility today people want
position but no responsibility but we have to understand karmically we r
responsible. the substantial part of all karma comes on u thats an intense
responsibility who would want to be a president if tey knew that and so many
sins r legalised states legalised drinking alcohol, abortion so much karma
and the % has to go to the ruler similarly if u r parent, temple president,
siksha guru u taker responsibility of peoples life if they misbehavew their
karmically comes on u. Just like a year ago there was big big scandal in
central govt. it was some lower worker he didn't knew nothing about it. The
demand was hes hould resign the minister didn'tknew anyuthing.
But king ugrasena accepted that yes i am responsible. if iu don't bring to
justice don't blame any oneelse blame me. Arjuna wanting to protect i will
protect ur next child. u see death will not enter if it does i will enter in
to fire. klrsna said why did u say like thiseven he is not god so when time
came the child died. so arjuna had to enter fire in thoise days if u promise
that promise is more than ur life even rascals like duryodhana whne bhishma
gave those 5 arrows to duryodhana he said let me keep these arrows till
tomorrow morning so krsna knows everything being host say whatever u want i
will give u. so krsna asked give me those 5 arrows. yes i have the arrows
and he gave the arrows. he didn't have to break his promises thats integrity
today promises, vows words r taken lightly when its convenient to follow
they will keep the word else its inconvenient. krsna told yudhister to lie
arjuna to cheat when its ordered by krsna then its transcenental. but
sometimes devotees take those ex. to extreme so there fore it is KC to lie
transcendental. but when people go and tell lie to sell books then it
becomes there condition for their own reputation try to protect and then
there is no Q of lov and trust thevery substance is love and trust u can't
love someone until u trust them.
So rupa says we shouldbe straighrt forward and honest and shouln't polute
the environment u can't transcend the modes of nature until u r in mode of
goodness how arjuna was actually willing to end his life so krsna
kauntey he prati
krsna says he protects his devotees. arjuna couldn't keep his word so he was
ready to give up his life so krsna took him directly to cause of ocean when
krsna drives his chariot he can go anywehewe he wants . people find great
pleasure to chowpatty beach to see arabian sea its 100's of trillions of
times bigger than any ocean and maha visnu is laying on that ocean. U cannot
calculate in miles or kms to calculate the size of mahavisnu there is no
scal that can wiegh him and yet every limb so beautiful attractive. so
mahavisnu said i took the children i knew krsna would come here and i
performed this patime b'coz my heart was longing to see the beauty of krsna
he is most nbeautiful. krsna is knower of everything. even he is unlimitedly
attracted by his own form. a story in dwarka when krsna saw his reflection
in jewel pillar he was thinking radharani is so fortuntae let me become
mahaprabhu in the mood of radharani so that i can see rthis form, understand
this form. that is krsna's beauty and whatis beauty of people in this world
in one sense its a curse in one sense its benediction it depends. if u r
proud of ur beauty then there is competition. Its temporary how long does it
last and oit comes very facst time is making everything deteriorate
prettysoon u will be batteling against time one great yogimaster of all
asanas old person told me he has to perform asanas 6 hrs everyday. if he
misses a day he will never be able to do asanas again. he was just batteling
against time. ultimately what is that asana when u lay down shuv asan
everyone perfectly performs this asana perfectly lay down when u down. even
some one has never done any asan in life can do this asana nicely. U see in
mumbay or america hoollywood look at the great famopus movie actresses who
everyone was mad after in1950' and now see how they look like simply old
they try to look young there fame and glory they have pic.s in their house.
they live for their past what they r attached to they don't have anymore.
but krsna is eternally youthful dhruv maharaj is so many desceribing diff.
between jivatma and paratma. jivatma in sp. world when he attains sidda deha
a spirit soul alo have youth ful form., in sp. world all these youthful
forms r fully conscious that krsna is simply enjoyer and our existence is
meanth for his enjoyment until u realise this u cannot realise ur own
blissful identity.
sarva dharman parityajya
mam ekam saranam vraja
aham tvam sarva papebhyo
moksasyami ma sucah
The real virtue of soul can only be understood when we surrender
wholeheartedly to Krsna. Krsna possess all 6 oppulences in unlimited degree.
Everyone was attracted to Krsna in Vrndavan. When krsna would bring cows
back from the pasturing grounds the calfs were crying for milk and mothers
were crying for their calfs to satisfy their children so they would be
running to meet theer calfs with their frount legs and the back legs would
not want to leave Krsna so the front legs were moving forward and back legs
moving backwards.
Everyones attracted to krsna some people may say you r attractive but some
people would say u r not attractive. When Krsna was there even the insects
were attracted the bees, the cows, the deers. what to speak about insects.
when u see miss india do u see cows getting attracted. what is the use of
their beauty. Krsna's beauty is unlimited for everyone. Husband is very much
attracted to wife sometimes. but as she gets old its not u r so beautiful
somehow or other lets tolerate each other but the love affairs of Radha and
Krsna are ever increasing. And the perfection and bliss is ever increasing.
Actually when devotee sees the beauty of Krsna he is conquered by beauty
that menas you are enjoyed by Krsna's beauty you expereince unlimited bliss.
In Spiritual world no one wants to enjoy everyone wants to be enjoyed giving
bliss to krsna krsna posess supreme oppulence of wealth we don't own
anything if we claim something of our own we have to take birth again and in
this material world the more wealth u have u get frustration sometimes
families fight and become enemies over wealth so many circumastances you are
going to lose your wealth to the degree you are attached to your wealth to
that degree you are afraid of death. Krsna never dies he is really a wealthy
man and his knolwdge, fame is unlimited and eternal. That is the Supreme
personality of Godhead this is the basis of real bhakti there r many people
who talk about bhakti even impersonalist they feel they will get lot of
follwoers this way. but the concl. of bhakti is there r many paths whether u
folow karma yoga, astanga yoga is all the same diff. ways of approching
undiifrentiated brahman but real bhakti is based on this foundation that
krana is a person and he has 6 oppulences that he is unlimited. therefore we
r meanth to be controlled by krsna most people transaltebhakti as devotoion
but our acaryas translated as devotional service to pelase the master unless
we except we r eternally the servamnt we haven't understood what is bhakti.
he had more knowledge than anyof panditsof this world he was more renounced
in his austeritie than any of yogis in this world . ehere is his conclusion
that god is great and we r eternally his servants we should never try to be
God and simply surrender to krsna withour heart and soul.
Q. Thank u for wonderful class Maharaj. In the translation of verse today it
is stated by Dhruva Maharaj that supreme lord is supreme witness of all
activities. so what are the different stages of intellectual activites that
Dhruva Maharaj is referring to and how can we understand this in relation to
jiva.
Maharaj: In essence this means Krsna knows everything that means he is
seeing everything and everyone at all times. There is not even for slightest
moment that krsna is not seeing you . the ego is the suttlest element ;even
the suttlest most thought of every living entity Krsna is constantly
watching with unbroken glance of his eyes. Our eyes they close can't stop it
from closing but the gopis were thinking blinking of eyes was 12 years or
more b'coz they couldn't see Krsna for that moment. we can't see continous
whoever we are . krsna is watching he doesn't blink. Everything you do, your
thought, what you desire is being witnesed. and your spiritual advancement
is based on what paraatma is seeing not on what people around the world are
seeing.
Ex. of Gaurakisore das babji maharaj. How he knew there was lust in one of
the babaji's mind. Krsna empowered him to see what so called sadhu was doing
having sex with a widow. he screamed and the villagers gathered he told them
and when they went to the sadhus place they found him having illicit sex.
Your spiritual. advancement is based on honesty and sincerity that krsna is
seeing as paratma in your heart. if you are proud that i am very advanced
soul yes people will honor you but krsna is inside your heart seeing how you
are responding to different situations. This lesson of Dhruv Maharaj is very
important krsna is watching everything and same Krsna is in everyone. one
time devotees asked Srila Prabhupada do you know whats in my heart i know
what paratma wants me to know. if u want to develop real love u should not
evaluate performance on waht other people see to some extent we must. if
somebody say u r in maya u must think paratma is speaking thru them. when
people praise us we should understand krsna is watching what is nour
honesty sincerity to really become Krsna Conscious. Our spiritual
advancement is totally dependent on krsna's observation of our thoughts and
activites. Are we cheating Are we honestly trying to serve Are we striving
to be humble trnad api suni cena to that extent we are striving for these
krsna will preserve what we have and carry what we lack if we are honest and
sincere.

Then he speaks the following: I am very happy to be with u all today. I
wanted to come here without amking any anouncement to hear Maharaj. Some how
my plan didn't work. maharaj will be coming soon. Until he comes i will say
few things. BG IN BG krsna systematically explaining the spiritual reality.
he starte dto advise arjun at a very critical time the battle of kurukshetra
was about to begin and right at the time when the battle was about to begin
blowing thwe conchshell it was anounced the battle is about to begin. and at
that time arjun just wanted to see who is standing on the other side and
seeing them arjun became overwhelmed he saw that hias guru grand father is
friend and cousins
were standing on enemy ine and it was battle of serious matter . Matter of
killing others or getting killed and arjun had to consider that time these r
the people whom i have to kill. he decided he is not going to claim his
right over kingdom by killing his relatives and friends and he was feeling
very deep emotion which led him to drop his bow. he became so weak with his
emotion his body weas trembling.

my body is trembling and hair standing on end. he told krsna i can't fight
this battler and at that time krsna started to advise arujun and in this way
we can see krsna created perfect situation. krsna was not imparting
knowledge of BG in normal situation it was in the middle of battlefield.
when we meditate on condition opf arjun he was seriously considering who all
thepeople he has yto kill and he can't kill. he felt he was totally unfit to
fight. krsna just chasitsed arujun with right knowledge and understanding.

how come this impurities have come to ur heart at a very critical time. this
is not the time to become overwhelme with emotion this is the time to fight
to kill these people and then krsna started to advise to arjun he first
gave very practical advise. if he leave the battle now they will think u r
cowherd they won't consider ur feeling for ur friends and relatives they
will think u r afraid of ur enemy line. compare to pandabva army kaurava
army was farmore powerful. we can cnsider for 14 years they were away from
kingdom and within this 14 yrs kauravas have gathered theuir strength
kauravas actaully took over or brought entire world under their power, karna
went all over world make people surrender under duryodhan the entire worlc
was with him practically. the entire world was siding with thme. then
pandavas came back after 14years to claim their share and duryodhans answer
was i am not going to give a peice of land. He thought they r so wek and we
r so powerful materially ofcourse there was no way they could win the
battle. when duryodhan said we wil see each other in battlefield. and
pandavas tried to gather their strength those who were very close to them
them sided them. they had no possiblity to win the battle. krsna created the
situation so his side had no hope of winning the battle. and in this
hopeless situation Krsna intervenes an changes the situation completely.
Krsna created an impossible situation in the battle of kurukshetra where
pandavas didn't have possibility of winning the battle and thats why krsna
made that point arjun if u leave the battlefied everyone would say u became
afraid. he also pointed out for a kshatriyaits a great opportunity to fight
in the battle. there is a great benediction if a ksatriya dies in the
battlefield goes to heavenly planets else he will enjoy the earthly planets.
so its a great opporutnity so take advantage. but arjuns consideration was
he will win the battle. war was a serious business they fought either to win
or die so when a warrior went to the battlefiedl he did not consider he may
lose. his consideration was he was going to win the battle. Then krsna
started advising the first thing he pointed was spirit sopul is eternal and
the living entityt takes birth again and again existence of soul is eternal
so when arjun said i can't give relatives of mine he gave various
examples.if all this ksatriyas were killed then there will be acute crises
of law and order in this planet thats why arjhun reasoned with krsna he
should not fight when arjun submitted to krsna he started advising. this is
very imp. one must surrender. krsna didn't start advuising until arjun
submitted and accepted krsna as Sp. Master and request ing him accept him as
his disciple.
Now i am surrendered soul unto you. then only krsna started to advise huim
the first thing krsna told him and put him right in hsi place so rewcognise
ur position as one who is in igrnorance and need of knowledge.

wise man and speak like fool. and he told that there was never a time when

actually arjun asking this question is not tht he was in doubt he is nitya
siddha associate of krsna arjun is asking this question he has been plaed
there b'coz krsna wanted to impart BG or all living entities. but arjuns
question was to benefit us and then krsna is teling arjun.

that led to great battle of kurukshetra. duryodhana was nborn in great
royalty due to that he was famos, ewealthy and proud. there is a beutiful
story in Sb which describes the daneger of being proud of ones beauty and
wealth there was a demon shankasura happened to be personal associate of
kuvera. that means having great facility for ooppulence and fame u may think
tht it is a very prestigious having control of financial accounbts of
heavenly planets and he had all facoilities for himself. what we see people
who were close to him became offenasive to others manigriva and nalakuvera
were rascals. Narada muni came walking near mansarovar they were bathing
naked with women tryingto enhjoy . women ran away to cover there bodies. but
b'coz they were beautiful narada muni cursed them to become trees. So
shankasura being the treasure assioctant he hadc such wealth most
munificient illustious jewel in all heavenly planets. BCS was explaining
talking about himself. people who r great try to hide their greatness and
people who r not great try to show the world to see. he had this jewel he
wored right in the centre of his neck 24hrs a day. let me continue it was
night of holy purnima the same dya when mahaprabhu mappeared. krsna balram
were in ythe forest of vrndavna with gopis playing so many wonderful lilas
krsna and balrama intoxicate with loeve for their devotees the7y began to
sing beautiful songs praising the rising of moon which was batnhing the
whole vrndavan forest woith it s moon shine and the starts appeared as the
pre vious effgulgent jewels in sky. the breeze of yamuin was nbringing
fragrance of yamuna flowers . Govinda and sri balram were so happy and gopis
were praisaing divine qualities of krsna and balrama and they together began
to sing. sukhdev goswami describes how they were singing for pleasure of
their devotees. all musical nodes of musical scales were perefectly sung by
krsna and balrama simultaneously. H H BCS has sucha melodious voice
saturated with bhakti and devotion. but if that vioce is carrying genuine
humilty and bhakti it touches ur soul and awakens its sleeping state but

1 time onbe of my God brother wrote to SP and SP said his God brothers r
great soul what makes a good kirtan is that when leader of kirtan has
sincere devotion. That is the essence BSS in his last days of his life one
of the beautiful singers who sing for him he called for someone who was not
good at singing. thepurity of our consciousness the sense of love Krsna and
balrama on this beautiful ful moon light were singing to such an extent that
they were intoxicated by their own singing . as they were singing their
pleasing loving pastimes were taking place and at that time shankaura
apperaed intoxicated not with loive buit with ego. hesaw krsna and balrama
having pastimes with gopis Off al the goddess of fortune of all vaikuntha
planets there is story when SP saw one brahmacari having picture of his
girlfriend i am seeing krsnas beauty in this , compare to heavenly planets
women r like horses in mat world the most beuatiful women of heavenly
palnets their bodies the more they perspiere enviorment becomes intoxicated
with nectar. thats why we don't want to go to heavenly planets very diff.
p[lace to survive but all heavelnly planets r insig. in beuaty to goddessof
fortune in vaikuntha and off all goddess of fortune don't equal to one gopi
of vrndavan. so can u imagine when shakasura saw these gopis he was very
much intereste din enjoying them. when man had morwe wealth he feels theree
is no one better than mre he thinks i shall be enjoying these beautiful
women with this consc. he picked up a big stick oprdering gopis to go with
him in northern direction as they were being dragged away just as theif
steals aways omeones cows they started crying out in desperation oh Krsna
Ojh balram. sri krsna and balrama picked up big logs and went running for
shankasura who had custoddy of gopis. when he saw them coming it looked like
death personified and for gopis they seem embodiment of love and eternal
happinsess.

bcoz the gopis surrendere d to krsna amd shankasura wnated to enjoy the
property of krsna SP gives example of Cat holding a mouse and kitten. when
kitten is in mouth feels happiness bcoz it has taken shelter but the rat has
not taken shelter therefore the rat ses the cat as death personified trying
to escape but cannot eascape. if we try to enjoy property of krsna he will
eppear as death and if we become servants and use everything to glorify him
then we willsee krsna in everyone and everything as eternal protector and
object of love . Shankasura became very afraid had no value at this point of
time so he ran away as fast as he could. so krsna seeing when gopis were
very tired he entrusted them in care of balram and he ran after shankasura
and ultimately he grabbed him. He expanded in huge form trying to fight as
hard his could krsna with his fist knocked his head of. shankasura was dead
devotees don't like violence until krsna performs it. Then krsn took that
and reclaimed his jewel took it from crown and brought it back all gopis
were watching with great pleasure as he presented that jewel to his beloved
brother balrama. srila rupa gosw. explains aftewr some time after sometime
balrama presented that jewel to his supreme most object srimati radharani
and she put that jewel on her neclace krsna declarewd it is equal to my
kasturba muni sometimes she would ook at jewel and she would see krsna afetr
lord krsna left for mathura the rewsidents of vrndava n were inundated in
seperation. srimati rahdharani would go to surya kund for one purpose to
meet krsna andgive pleasure to krsna.
Yamuna is daughter of sungod and expansion of visaka they went under water
and were transported to sun plameyt where srimati radharani met surya and
she presented to surya this jewel which krsna claimed from shankasura and
some yrs. ater surya awarded that jewel to satrajit a jewel. shamataka jewel
shows how greed brings fame.
then the lion got the jewel and then jambavan got the jewel. when krsna got
that jewel from jambavan he was in tears bcoz was the jewel which hadtears
of radharani this is long history in which we see where there was love and
greed. acc. to srila BVT he represnts one of great obstacle on path of dev.
service which every devotee has to face and struggle again. often times like
demons that will conquer us with all certainty unless with great humility we
take shelter of SPOf Godehead andf chant his holy anme
Shankasura represnts the anartha within our heart wanting to acquire name
and fame that inclination thast proveness to acquire name and fame and also
to enjoy sense gratification under the plea of dev. service. this should be
understood very carefully bcvoz this is powerful infulences of maya devi.

SB condemnms u perform dev. service u get results. As we practice KC
sometimes we r empowered by Krsna he gives us wealth, knowledge,fame we
become very attractive prev. peopleused to look at us as ordinary people now
they r comoing and touching our feet. any praise we get the tendency is to
become proud whet is that propensity it is shankasura who appears in ur
heart. shankasura is trying to take gopis for his own enjoyment. eeverything
is krsn's property if we want ot enjoy anme and fame qwe r trying to enjoy
gopis acc. to SBVT and what is the result when there is false pride then
there is ineveitable competition and envy this creates disunity when
everyones humble krsna is the doer then there can be complete unity total
love and trust among dfevotees when there is enjoying facilitites given by
krsna in name of devotin that becomes what BSS declared to be fire in the
math this trust this unity this is snakirtan moement ot glorigy krsna
together we havbe to be united together in purpose otherwise people compete
and become envious. we want to be on the top and stay on the top and
sometimes this is inflicted on devotees. this is not what Mahaprabhu taught

SP in harmony with our prev. acaryas is claiming in this verse reveals the

yogic power by which people perform tapasya gives them higher level of

life week after year we want our heart s to be transfromed KC is never
stagnant. in Sp. world every moment is everincreasing love for krsna to
please krsna and serv krsna . in mat world we should never be content with
our particualr level of KC let me just rest here for somehting. if u r not
stiriving to go forward the mat. word will get u backwards.
the current is trying to bring u back in ocean of birth and death we have to
constantly be struggling and swimming upstream any moment u can get down.
everything in this world is being pushed down u jump up what happens u come
down. go on airplane when u run out of fuel come down. so the nature of
thies world is like river is pushing down stream to oicean of death. we must
be striving for higher state of consc. in every stage of life. time is
changing everything. let us at every moment be transformed in more
purifiying surrendered devotee of lor. our resolution should be &&
LOord caitanya has made the path very joyful. In satyayuga
in treta yuga astundingle oppulent sacrifices performed in dvapar yuga he
sacrifice was simply to qworship krsna temple worship. actually every yuga
there is part. sacrifice to perform.
Srila rupa g. explkains the people would perform yajnas so perfectly that
the demgodas would come down. each brahman had to chant his mantra
perfectly.
it is explianed when krsna was living in dwaraka the demigods will come and
meert him adf they would never want to go home. U see in dwarka krsna
himself would perform yajna the demigos will all come and the wives of
demoigodas would be often left home. they would pray for the advent of lord
buddha. bcoz buddhas purpose is to stop vedic sacrifices. bcoz people were
performing yajnas. let buddha come fast then our husbands will never leave
home so it was so diff to achieve in prev. ages Mahaprabhu ahs made it so
easy but even the eassiest thing is so diff. for us. but acc. to our
capacity

krsna will give us the ability to perfect our lives preserve
only real qual. one requires is sincerity. what is the meaning sincereity
that means honest and humbel attempot acc. to our means to follow thru pure
dev. service in our life if we r sincere oin our effort by krsnas causeless
mercy.
That is our goal so on this occassion let us celebrate not just the new year
but the person who is the cause of all causes the source of everything that
exist Krsna. every situation is actually is appropriate oppurtunity to
celebrate glory of krsna and mahaprabhu gave us most subl;ime process to
becoiem intoxicated .
u go to any place u see what kind of parties r goingon. u won't find anyone
more inoxicated than devotees dancing like mad for krsnas pleasure the so
called dancing is samthing as dogs and hogs, monkeys there nis no
improvement no elevation simple trying to enjoy the senses. dofgs and hogs
who eat stool r trying to do this.
when we come together to dance for kirtan there is separation conc. is pure
krsna is the focus he is descended in sound of his holy name devotees r
utterly intoxicated dancing in ecstasy to cleebrate its not new years eve.
but every moerning devotees r dancing in front of dieties. this is pure
natural love for spiritual soul let us taske this blessing of SP with heart
and soul and chant and be happy.

we should exteremely grateful for everything krsna has given us each and
devottee hads given us and we must poray to krsna the mercy and favor we
have received from krsna and vasinavas. and we must dedicate our body mind
inservice of krsna. in this world so many karmic reactions come but to dwell
on the negativites that have come upon us with the se4nse of bitterness or
reveeenge whether u r right or wrong u don't make any sp. advancement if u
associate with negative thought to wards others u succumb to negativity
devoteeas must pray to be positvei how to do that gratfeul for happiness and
pains, successes and failures that r endured in life but most of all to be
gratfeul to those who have helped us. civilixation is to honor our parents
they have helped us. those who have helped us with knowledge inspiration.
whatever their fgaults dfefects they r helping me to become devotee.
directly or indirectly every devotee is helping us so we should be grateful
if we find faults we will become full of faults ourselves then krsna will
bless us with divine qualiyties hear and chant the glories of krsna with
grateful heart and chant his holyname
